Most spots across the western burbs have received between 0.50" and 1.00" of rain over the past 4 days with the coastal storm. Here in East Nantmeal we have picked up 0.70" of rain. We look to dry out and cool down over the rest of the work week with today being our warmest day till the weekend. By Thursday we will see high temperatures remaining in the 50's but with 70's possible especially in the valley locations by Sunday. We also see our next chance of rain by Sunday evening before we turn cooler again to start the new work week. -

Sky is falling sky is falling.....no one believes our cyclical climate change is an issue anymore. But a lot of folks on here sure do!! Fortunately the younger generation has caught on to the grift and is finally starting to see the "science" for what it has become.

LOL! wonder why he chose to include only March to August?? plus it is of course altered adjusted data which we dismiss!

Here in East Nantmeal we have picked up 0.13" of rain so far today. This brings our 3-day total to 0.32" with steady but light rain still falling. Some models have up to another 0.25" to 0.50" of additional rain before the chances of showers start to diminish tomorrow. Temperature wise we should be well below normal levels for mid-October with highs in most spots in the low to mid 50's, Tomorrow we should see the warmest day of the work week with temperatures into the mid to upper 60's. We then see another cool down through the rest of the week. By Friday morning we look to see low temperatures in the 30's but many of our valley locations already saw their first freeze last week. The higher spots look to continue their growing (freeze free) season into November which has been typically the case for elevations above 600 feet across Berks and Chester Counties . -

Many spots below 400 feet ASL saw freezing temperatures this morning across Chester and Berks counties. Freezing temperatures were recorded at West Chester, Chester Springs, West Bradford Twp. Devault, Warwick Township and Nottingham. The coldest reading was the 28.9 degrees at Warwick. Here in East Nantmeal at 685 feet ASL we recorded a low of 37.5. This is a record low for this date for this location with records since 2004. Regarding the weekend coastal storm some models have backed off a bit on the westward extent of the heaviest rain across Chester and Berks counties. Rain chances start to increase by tomorrow evening, and showers could continue into Monday. -

Some unseasonably chilly air taking hold over the area this afternoon with dew points below freezing at 1pm. Actual air temperatures this afternoon are likely to remain in the 50's in the higher spots in the area. There is a frost advisory in effect for overnight tonight and I suspect that some of our valley locations in Chester and Berks Counties may actually see some near freezing temperatures which could effectively end the growing season in those spots. The higher ridge areas will stay well above freezing by morning. Attention will then turn to a potential nor’easter moving up the coast that could have some major impact to the area by the end of the weekend and start of next week. Oh and of course Go Phillies tonight!! -

0.48" of rain so far here in East Nantmeal since midnight. We have already seen our high temperature for the day at midnight. Temperatures will fall later this morning and remain fairly steady till late PM we should see temperatures drop into the 40's by midnight tonight. The big stories will be a freeze for valley locations and frost for higher spots by Friday morning. Followed by a potentially impactful coastal storm by later this weekend. Highs tomorrow will remain in the 50's across the ridges across the area with only around 60 degrees elsewhere. -

I suspect the National Weather Service may post some frost and freeze advisories for Thursday night into Friday morning. Below is the history of freezes (sub-32 degree) readings across 31 individual stations across the area. Overall the county sees it's first freeze on October 25th. However, some lower elevation stations as you can see below average their first freeze as early as October 14th while other stations with a bit more elevation may not typically see their first freeze till as late as November 9th. This will also be available on the website at www.chescowx.com -

Today will be our last mild day before a strong cold front crosses from west to east starting later this evening. We should see a general 0.50" to 1.00" of rain before the rain ends tomorrow morning. The big news following the cold front will be sharply chillier temperatures arriving tomorrow afternoon and the potential for an unseasonably early frost or even a freeze by Friday morning. I will post the historical earliest, latest and average freeze dates for all available stations across the county in a separate post. Highs on Thursday look to remain in the 50's especially in the higher spots of the county. The unseasonable chill looks to continue through the upcoming weekend. -

Quite the spread in low temperatures across the area this morning. While many lower spots like Warwick Township saw temperatures in the mid 40’s (44.2) other ridge locations like down in West Grove almost stayed above 60 degrees (59.7) Today could be one of our last days until next spring to see temperature approach the 80-degree mark. We cool a few degrees tomorrow and then with some needed rain and a cold front passage on Tuesday night we will see temperatures on Wednesday remaining in the 60’s and by Thursday some spots may barely escape from the 50’s for high temperatures. Low temperatures by Friday morning should be in the 30’s for much of the area with even a touch of frost for some of typically colder valley locations. Rainfall amounts by Wednesday morning could be between 0.50” and 1.00” -

Happy Red Phillies October to those who celebrate! Tough one last night! Today looks to be our warmest day over the next week. Lower spots in the area should approach 80 degrees. We should see temperatures a couple of degrees cooler by tomorrow and then falling to below normal levels by Thursday. Highs on Thursday should be not too far from 60 degrees. There is a chance of some beneficial rain on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. That looks to be our only chance of rain over the next week. Go Phillies! -

Some of our colder valley locations again saw low temperatures this morning in the upper 30's with most other spots remaining in the lower 40's. A beautiful stretch of weather through Tuesday with temperatures near normal for early October today with highs in the upper 60's to near 70 degrees. We warm up to above normal tomorrow through Tuesday. Shower chances arrive on Tuesday night with a cold front which will turn us sharply cooler again by later next week. -

Some of our colder valley locations saw lows this morning in the chilly 30's. The lowest was at Warwick Township at 37.4 degrees. The next couple of days will be seasonably cool with highs not too far from normal in the upper 60's but lows a bit below normal including some of those same spots tonight sinking into the 30's. We start a moderating trend starting Saturday that should last through the middle of next week before we turn much cooler again toward the end of next week. Our best rain chances look to be next Tuesday or Wednesday.
