  1. Today starts out sunny but with clouds on the increase we could see some showers by late this evening. Warmer today with our first day over 70 degrees since back on April 22nd. We slip back below normal temps for mid-week but then warm well into the 70's by next weekend. Records for today: High 93 (1930) / Low 28 (1974) / Rain 2.74" (1908)

  3. Today will be our 13th but last below normal day in a row. However, we will be close to our normal high temperature of 67 degrees. Both Sunday and Monday look to be slightly above normal temps but with some shower chances returning by Monday night. We should see temps cool to below normal again by mid-week. Records for today: High 91 (1934)/ Low 30 (1968) / Rain 1.57" (1989)

  5. The first 4 months of the year have been the warmest on record for Chester County since 1894. During our current cyclical warmer climate phase we have seen 8 of the top 10 warmest starts to the year since just 1990! However it is important to note that 13 of the Top 25 warmest first 4 months occurred prior to 1960 (see below). However, for those of us that believe in normal cyclical climate change... some cooler periods are likely in our not too distant future. With the start of the modern grand solar minimum (when solar magnetic field and its magnetic activity will be reduced by 70%) which began in 2020 and will last through about 2053 we should expect to see our temperatures begin to chill as part of the next normal cooling cycle by up to 1.8°F. This cooling is expected to be most notable during the periods of solar minima between the cycles 25–26 and 26–27 which means we should see some clear cooling starting later this decade and peaking during the 2030's into the 2040's before our next warming cycle looks to begin later in the 2050's.
  6. Some lower spots dipped into the 30's this morning. That could well be the last temp that low till October. It looks like we have 2 more below normal temperature days today and tomorrow before we warm to normal Sunday and above normal on Monday. Records for today: High 90 (1919) / Low 28 (1926) / Rain 1.49" (2019)

  8. It looks like today will be our 11th straight below normal day. In fact these 1st 3 days of May have been the coldest start to this month since 1945. It is the 3rd coldest start since 1894. Behind only 1945 and 1939. It looks like we have at least 2 more below normal days before warming to near normal by Saturday. Records for today: High 91 (1913) / Low 31 (1909) / Rain 1.75" (1954)

  10. More heavy rain and even some thunderstorms later. We have already picked up another 0.48" this morning bringing our last 5 day rain total to 2.52". Up to another 1" to 2" could fall across some areas by late tonight especially if any thunderstorms do develop. Records for today: High 90 (1942) / Low 26 (1978) / Rain 5.77" (2014)

  12. We picked up another 0.16" of rain overnight bringing the 2 day total to 1.35" of rain. Since Wednesday we have recorded 2.02" of much needed rain. Today will be cloudy but dry. The next round of rain moves in late morning on Sunday and should last into early Monday morning. We could see another 1.25" to 2.00" of rain with this one and increasing winds again. Some shower chances for most days this week with the exception of Thursday which looks mostly sunny. Below normal temps look to continue all week. Records for today: High 88 (1974) / Low 28 (1922) / Rain 1.08" (1902)

  14. It looks like a pretty wet weekend is on the way for the area. Rain should spread from southwest to northeast across the county this morning and continue pretty heavy into tomorrow morning. It looks like over an inch of rain is likely for much of the county with this 1st round of rain (see below). A 2nd round of rain looks to move in by Sunday morning with a chance of another 1" plus of rain. All of this represents some much needed rain for the local farmers and all of our lawns! Temperatures will continue to run well below normal through at least the next week as we roll into the first week of May.

  16. 100% agreed!! I don't know how anyone can deny climate change....climate has always and will always be changing (cyclical climate change is real). Now if you believe it will never swing back to a cooler period of time at some point in the future - that we do not know.
  17. We have picked up 0.67" of rain since late yesterday afternoon. We are still running over an inch below normal for April and almost 5" below for the year. We have a good chance at many spots across the area seeing at least an inch of rain by the end of the upcoming weekend. Temperatures for the next 10 days look to remain well below normal for late April and early May. Records for today: High 94 (1915) / Low 26 (1926) / Rain 1.92" (1913)

  19. I have #5 up but not yet mounted in Sea Isle City. I like the others have given up on roof mounts. I will find a way to mount it off my deck (maybe some sort of arm to swing it out a ways) Like others have said above while the unit itself has lots of issues.....the customer service team is great!!
  20. Summer average temperature changes by decade for Chester County, Note that West Chester's average summer temp in the 1890's was exactly the same as the first decade of the 2000's. Again a clear warmer - cooler - warmer summer pattern - rinse and repeat but no discernible material trends. The bolded numbers are specifically for West Chester but all of the other stations reported the same trends
  21. Some areas of frost and even a few freezing temperatures in the lower spots of the county this morning. Below normal temps will continue through this last week of April. Some slight rain chances tomorrow night but rain will be likely by the weekend. Records for today: High 93 (1915) / Low 28 (1922) / Rain 1.50" (1975)

  23. It looks like we see below normal temperatures to over the next week to finish out the month of April. Normal highs are in the mid to upper 60's. There could be some patchy frost across lower spots in the county over the next 2 nights. There is a slight chance of showers on Wed night...but a dry work week before rain chances increase for next weekend. Records for today: High 90 (1960) / Low 26 (1931) / Rain 2.40" (1968)
