  1. Mild day to start March we may see some wintry weather before a change to rain on Friday PM. Well the winter months of December-January-February finished warm as we all know - avg. temp was 37.7 degrees. Precipitation wise is was the 10th driest February with only 1.42" of water equivalent the driest being the scant 0.73" that fell back in 2002. Snow wise with only 0.5" of snow for the month this was the 11th least snowy February on record with 9 years recording no snow at all during what is our snowiest average month of the year. Records for today: High 72 (1972) / Low 5 (1980) / Rain 1.45" (1954) / Snow 9.5" (1952)

  4. Temp down to 32.1 here in NW Chester County PA at 685ft asl with just some light sleet and snow falling. Our 0.3" of sleet/snow from round 1 make this our 7th winter "event" of the season.....the biggest single event...a whopping 0.8"
  5. Some light snow mixed with sleet just started up again temp down to 32.5 0.3" with round 1
  6. 33.2 with sleet snow mix will not equal our largest snow of the year though....that 0.8" will be tough to beat!!
  7. Mainly snow with sleet mixing in all surfaces covered and temp is down to 33.5 DP 31.3
  8. The primary is weakening with the 2nd starting to take control off the coast...precip will start to blossom over the next couple hours - albeit too late for those of us too far to the southwest but should be a nice little event for folks to the Northeast of Chester County - enjoy!!
  9. Snow mixing with the sleet pretty steady with all surfaces briefly covered here before the change to rain coming shortly Temp down to 34.2 DP 30.7
  10. Sleet has started up again here in NW Chesco temp at 37.3 DP has fallen a bit now at 29.5
  11. Cloudy temp down to 39.4 but DP rising quickly and up to 30.4.
  12. Starting to sleet here in East Nantmeal temp at 42.9 DP 21.4
  13. Down here in the southern climes of Chesco expectation set at 0.3" of sleet before change to rain
  14. HRRR with it's view of snow and sleet this evening
  15. Increasing clouds today with highs in the low 40's. Rain or sleet should start during the 7pm hour with sleet becoming the main precipitation type across NW Chester County before transitioning to all rain before ending overnight. The NWS has a small sleet accumulation possible across NW Chesco tonight. Seasonably cool tomorrow in the low 40's before warming again by Thursday with showers. Could see another wintry mix by Friday. Records for today: High 73 (1997) / Low 2 (1934) / Precipitation 1.33" (1958) / Snow 3.0" (1907)

  17. Still liking mainly sleet south of I78 with the accumulating snow remaining North of there. The NWS now says the Sleet could be heavy at times across Western Chester County.
  18. Tomorrow PM will be interesting you can see the 850mb temps only briefly for a couple hours (warmest point below) go over 0c but there is that pesky 925mb temp that will cause the sleet potential for many in the area.
  19. Yesterday was only our 8th sub freezing day of the winter with a high of only 31.2. Typically through yesterday we would have seen 22 such days already this winter. This underscores how unusually warm this winter season has been across the area! Back to well above normal temps again today with sun returning and highs into the low 50's. Chillier tomorrow with some mixed precipitation arriving late in the day. Here in Chester County it will be mainly some sleet changing to rain before much accumulation. However, you would only have to go north by around 20 miles or so toward the Lehigh Valley to see some accumulating snow and sleet tomorrow evening. Milder again Tuesday through Thursday before another potential winter event may effect us by Friday into next Saturday. Records for today: High 70 (1930) / Low 6 below (1914) / Precipitation 1.83" (1929) / Snow 8" (2010). That 2 day storm in February 2010 was the last of 3 major snowstorms that month with 13.5" falling from that storm. That followed the 18.3" that fell on the 5th/6th and the 26.8" on the 9th/10th. We ended the month with 62.8" of snow - the 2nd greatest monthly total behind only the 69.8" that fell in February 1899.

  21. Sleetfest in the Philly burbs on the 0z NAM with accumulating snow to the Northeast toward NYC looking likely
  22. Really thinking this one is the one that delivers for the snow starved NYC folks....down this way NE Bucks/Montgomery best shot at accumulating snows before the changeover
