  1. Drizzly, foggy and mild weather continues for the next couple days. Finally clearing by tomorrow night with temps falling back to normal to finish out the week. We have picked up 0.37" of rain over the past 3 days of gloom. The record high for today is 80 degrees from 1900. The record low is 22 degrees set back in 1952. The daily rain record is 2.31" from 1980.

  3. Some light rain or drizzle will be possible across Chester County this PM but hopefully not enough to slow down the Phillies game this afternoon in Philly. Most of the rest of the week look dry and mild to start with highs well into the 60's. Temps will fall back to normal levels by the end of the work week. Go Phillies! The record high today is 85 degrees set back in 1947. Our record low is 22 degrees from 1969. The daily rainfall record is the 2.81" that fell today way back in 1912.
  4. A couple beautiful autumnal days on tap both today and tomorrow across Chester County PA. Highs today will be close to normal. Tomorrow highs will be slightly above normal. A chance of some showers with a low moving up the east coast by later Sunday. The record high for today is 85 degrees set back in 1947. The record low is 19 degrees - the earliest sub 20 low set back in 1922. The daily rainfall record is 3.13" set way back in 1904.
  5. It looks like most spots across Chester County remained just above the freezing mark this morning...but quite a bit of frost once again. The next couple days will continue with below normal temps before warming to near normal by Saturday. Of note yesterday was the earliest measurable snow here in Chester County when 1" of snow fell in 1940. The record high today is 82 degrees set in 1969. The record low is 21 degrees from 1972. The daily rainfall record is 2.48" set in 1988.
  6. Many spots across Chester County fell to freezing or below including here in East Nantmeal where we fell to 32.2. We also have quite a bit of frost to go with the freezing temps. The growing season has ended at 182 days between freezing temps (last on April 20th) Below normal temps will continue through Friday, warming to above normal by the weekend into next week. Dry weather for at least the next week. The record high for today is 83 degrees. Record low is 22 degrees from 1974. Daily rainfall record is 3.14" from 1996,

  8. The NWS has posted a freeze warning for Western Chester County and a Frost Advisory for Easter Chester County for overnight tonight into Wednesday morning. If we do see freezing temps tomorrow morning that would end the growing season at 182 days. Our last freezing temperature was on April 20th. The growing season averages 172 days in the lower elevations of the county below 430 feet and 186 days in the higher elevations. The average date of first fall freeze is October 14th in lower spots and October 24th in the relatively higher locales. The shortest growing season in County history was the 119 days back in 1956. The longest season was 233 days back in 2005. The record high for today is 89 degrees set in 1908. The record low is 22 degrees from 1974. The daily rainfall record is 1.98" from 1911.
  9. Slight chance of some showers today as the cold front crosses the area. Temperatures the next 4 nights will fall into the 30's across Chester County. High temperatures will struggle to escape the 40's both Tuesday and Wednesday. We should see temperatures rising to slightly above above normal toward next weekend. The record high for today is 89 degrees set in 1908. The record low is 25 degrees in 1937. Record rainfall is 1.30" in 1932.
  10. Another beauty of a day today with highs running a couple of degrees above normal. The well advertised cold front will cross the county from west to east early Monday morning. High temperatures Tuesday through Thursday will struggle to escape the 40's more typical of Late November than mid October. Record high today is 94 degrees set way back in 1897. The record low is 27 degrees from 1939. Daily rain record is the 1.66" that fell in 2019. Go Phillies and Go Birds!
  11. Spectacular weekend underway across Chester County PA. Showers likely on Monday followed by the chilliest air of the season for the rest of the week. Go Phillies!! The record high today is 89 degrees set way back in 1897. Our record low is 28 degrees from 1937. Daily rainfall record is the 1.58" that fell back in 1954.
  12. We picked up 1.16" of rain in East Nantmeal yesterday. Beautiful weather over the weekend before a sharp cold front crosses the area on Monday. After that the chilliest weather of the fall season is on tap for Chester County. Many spots (if they have not already) will see their 1st frost and possibly the first freeze...and the end of the growing season by either Wednesday or Thursday morning. The record high for today is 85 degrees set back in 1975. The record low is the 27 degree low from 1988. The daily rainfall record is 1.05" from 1977. GO PHILLIES!
  13. Showers today with the cold front passage. Rainfall amounts will average between 0.50" to 1.00" across Chester County. Following this front a beautiful autumnal weekend in store. With temps a little below normal tomorrow and near normal on Saturday. Another cold front passes on Monday with the chilliest weather so far this season on the way. Temps on Tuesday may not get out of the 40's in some of the higher spots across the county. Many spots could see their 1st freezing temps by Wednesday morning. The record high for today is 87 degrees from 1957. The record low is 27 degrees in 1906. The daily rainfall record is 2.03" from 1927.
  14. Increasing clouds today with slightly above normal temps. Showers and some heavier rains arrive tomorrow with generally 0.50" to 1.00" of rain with more across western areas of the county. Dry and near normal temperatures over the weekend before a turn to sharply colder by early next week. The record high for today is 86 degrees set in 1962. The record low is 27 degrees set in 1964. The daily rainfall record is 2.96" set way back in 1904. Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Yesterday was the 8th below normal temperature day over the 1st 10 days of the month of October here in Chester County PA. If you think this has been an unusually chilly start you are correct. This is the coldest 1st 10 days in October in 34 years dating back to 1988. The average temp has been 51.9 - this is the 13th chilliest start to October since NWS Coop records began in 1894. The chilliest was the 48.5 from 1935 - followed by the 48.9 in 1974. The record high for today is 87 degrees set in 1904. The record low is 23 degrees from 1929. Record daily rainfall is the 1.37" that fell today in 1902.
  16. Another morning with some 30's in many lower spots around the county. In East Nantmeal we only made it down to 41.0....Beautiful start to the week but still a bit chilly for early October. Showers look to arrive toward Thursday morning. Should clear out and be sunny and cool for Phillies at the bank next weekend! The record high for today is 88 degrees in 1939. The record low is 24 degrees in 1929. The daily rainfall record is 3.19" set way back in 1894.
  17. A beautiful autumnal weekend on the way. Today and tomorrow will struggle to escape the 50's in many spots. Tonight we run a risk in some of the lower valley locations in Chester County to see our first frost. Our record high for today is 85 degrees set back in 1916. The record low is 28 degrees in 1904. The daily rainfall record is 2.43" set back in 1903.
  18. Warmest day for the next week on tap for today. With above average temps in the low 70's today. A cold front will cross the county late tonight with a slight chance of a brief shower. Following the front winds will shift to the northwest and be a bit gusty tomorrow. Temps by Saturday morning will fall into the low 40's - highs tomorrow will struggle to pass the mid-50's despite a sunny day. By the way - Go Phillies!!!! The record high for today is 90 degrees set in 1941 that is the 2nd latest 90 degree reading in Chester County history. The latest 90 plus day was on October 16, 1897 when it hit 94 degrees! The record low for today is 27 degrees set in 1923. The daily rainfall record is 1.48" set back in 1965.

Our record high for today is 94 degrees from 1900. The record low was 28 degrees from 1965. The daily rainfall record is 2.00" set back in 1932.
  20. Another 0.43" of rain fell overnight. Bringing our 5 day rain total since Saturday to 4.12". Today should be the last day with measurable rain for at least the next week! Temperatures tomorrow and Friday could reach 70 degrees especially in the lower spots of Chester County PA. However, temperatures again fall off sharply starting Saturday with a stretch of below normal temps again through at least next Tuesday. The record high for today is 94 degrees from 1941. The record low is 28 degrees from 1965. The daily rainfall record is 2.04" set way back in 1902.
  21. Looks like another wet and unseasonably chilly day with temps again remaining in the 40's for many spots across the County. We should finally see some drying by tomorrow. A couple of beautiful days coming up on Thursday and Friday with temps near 70. Turning much cooler by the weekend maybe even some frost in some lower spots in the County. The record high today is 86 degrees set in 1959. The record low is 29 degrees from 1974. The daily rainfall record is 2.20" from 2000.
  22. We have picked up 2.29" of rain so far here in East Nantmeal over the last 3 days with 0.10" falling since midnight. Rain amounts look less today but it still looks like some showers will be around till later tomorrow. The record high for today is 91 degrees set in 1919. The record low is 26 degrees set back in 1899. The daily rainfall record is 1.21" set in 1985.
  23. Total rain so far over the last 2 days is up to 1.60" with 0.36" of rain so far today. More rain and chilly weather is on the way. We should start to see conditions improve by Tuesday afternoon. The record high for today is 87.6 set just 3 years ago back in 2019. The record low is 28 degrees set way back in 1899. The daily rainfall record is the 3.18" that fell today back in 1929.

Looking at the NWS Cooperative Station near me in Glenmoore PA - shows the same data as I have analyzed....at least in the Philly burbs of Chester County...all of the longest running COOP sites show that if anything Septembers since the 1950's are cooling not warming....but folks still "feel" that September's here in Chester County have warmed....why is that?? I get that if you watch the news and at PHL it has warmed you assume it must be the same away from the UHI issues at PHL but...
