We could do no better than 89.3 yesterday in East Nantmeal which ended our 90 degree streak at just 1 day. So at least here in East Nantmeal no heat waves this year....and none since July 19-21, 2020. However, the KMQS Airport did report 4 straight days over 90 during this hot streak. Good chance at some much needed t-storms across the County today. Our farmers and gardeners will appreciate any and all rainfall since last Monday the 18th. Our record high for today is 96 degrees set back in 1921. The record low is 47 degrees set back during the Bicentennial celebration in 1976. Record daily rainfall is the 2.00" that fell today back in 2016.

Today should be the warmest day of the current heat spell. Temps across the entire county should get close to the middle 90's in the higher terrain to even upper 90's in some of the lower spots. This could approach some records. Rain chances will also increase by tomorrow night with what would be some welcome rainfall! After that the rest of the week looks to be much closer to normal temps with highs no higher than the low to mid-80's. The record high today is 95 degrees (which could be in danger) set back in 1918. The record low was 48 degrees back in 1985. Daily record rainfall was 1.23" in 1911.

A big day here in the hills in the NW Philly burbs as you ascend the Welsh Mountain Anticline here in NW Chester County PA!! We were able to....with the help of rounding record an "official" first 90 degree day of the year today here in East Nantmeal Township with a high temperature of 89.7 on my Vantage Pro 2 station!!! While my Ambient station could do no better than 88.7. But for our climate reporting purposes this will go down as our 1st 90 degree day of the year and our first 90 degree day since June 30, 2021!!! Lot's of excitement here across the NW Chesco hills with this rare climate event!!!! Of note...this is also our 1st 90 degree day in July in over 2 long years since our last 90 degree day back on July 21, 2020. The only spot in Eastern PA beside MPO to fail to touch 90 was EW3190 in Reading PA at 1,115 feet. Maybe they see their first 90 degree temp tomorrow.

Our record Western Chester County high for the day is 100 degrees set back in 1899. The record low is 51 degrees from 1983. Record daily rainfall is the 2.72" that fell today back in 1916. Suspect we see many spots who have still to record a 90+ day to get there if not today then certainly over the weekend.

KMQS and KPTW both reached 90 today for the 1st and 2nd time this month, this was both stations 4th time this year. Here in East Nantmeal Twp. still no 90+ days as my VP2 only made it to 88.3 / Ambient hit 88.5./ only my poorly sited roof top mounted tempest unit was able to reach the 90's at 90.3. All observing locales in Eastern Chesco hit the 90's today...however, a couple spots in addition to EN in Western Chesco including Downingtown West and Oxford also fell short of 90. Tomorrow again should be close here in EN but thinking Saturday and Sunday we should finally see the rarity of a 90 degree reading.

While many relative lower locales across Chester County reached the 90 degree mark yesterday. Many observation spots across our county failed to reach the elusive temperature. This included East Nantmeal (88.6), KMQS (87.0), Oxford (88.0), East and West Downingtown (88.0) and Cochranville (89.0). With today's higher starting low temperature we should have a good shot at many spots hitting 90 for the first time this month. By contrast PHL Airport is on quite the run of 90's...with it likely they reach 7 straight days by Sunday! Of note PHL has now recorded 19 days over 90 while here in East Nantmeal we have still had none. KMQS airport in Coatesville has had 3 days that rounded up to 90 and KPTW has also only recorded 3 such days!

The NWS has us reaching the 90 degree mark for the first time in more than 1 year today here in some of the higher spots of Chester County. The last such day here in East Nantmeal was June 30, 2021 when we hit 91.2. Our record high for today is 99 degrees set back in 1930. The record low is the 48 degrees back in 1966. Our daily rainfall record is 4.78" set in 1979. Stay cool!

Most folks across Chester County today over 500 ft ASL failed to escape the mid to upper 80's.. We did make it to 85.6 in East Nantmeal. The NWS has us again not reaching 90 tomorrow....but then 4 straight days they forecast reaching that elusive 90 degree mark! Of note the PHL Airport recorded their 10th day at 90 or above over the 1st 19 days of the month. KMQS Airport (Coatesville) and KPTW (Pottstown) have both failed to yet reach 90 so far here in July

We picked up another 0.34" of rain yesterday here in Chester County. We have recorded rain during 9 of the 18 days this month...but are still averaging about 75% of our normal rain through yesterday. Unfortunately, dry weather looks likely and indeed very hot. In fact if the current NWS forecast is correct... much of the relatively higher spots in the county could experience their 1st "heat wave" (3 consecutive days over 90 degrees) since July 19-21, 2020. Of note we have only experienced a total of 5 "heat waves" in the last 13 years dating back to 2010!!

We picked up 0.56" of rain since last evening in East Nantmeal with .05" falling since midnight. Our record high for today is 100.5 set in 1900. The record low is 46 degrees set in 1976. The daily record rainfall is 1.81" set in 2018.

That is incredible! you have the same number of 90+ days as the PHL Airport heat island!! Even the warm KRDG obs has only had only 12 days over 90 all summer - of course a little to your south across Chester County still not even 1 day in East Nantmeal that has touched 90 degrees and still no 90+ days yet at KMQS Airport in Coatesville (though 3 times at 89.6) and only 3 times a 90+ reading at KPTW in Pottstown. By contrast I have had 15 days over 90 degrees.....combined over the last 6 summers since 2017!!

Only picked up 0.05" of rain yesterday. Still above normal for the year but falling behind so far here in July. The record high today is 97 degrees (1954). Our record low is 53 degrees (2001). Of note that 53 degree record low is the warmest record low temperature of any date during the calendar year. In fact there are only 10 days (all here in July) where the record low in not at least in the 40's. Daily record rainfall for today is 2.52" (1975).

Our low this AM was 62.6. We should again fail to reach 90 across most of the higher spots of Chester County today. We have still yet to record even one such day this summer. The last summer we failed to record even one day over 90 degrees were the back to back summers of 2014 and 2015. This would be the 4th non-90 summer in just the last 19 years if we fail to reach that mark. Of note in 2015 while we recorded zero 90+ days... the Philadelphia Airport recorded 37 such days! Today's record high is the 96 degrees set today in 1936. Our record coldest temp was the 48 degrees in 1945. Record daily rainfall was 3.58" today back in 2004.

Beautiful day across the entire area!! Here in Chesco both my 2 stations (VP2 and Ambient) along with the Downingtown observer at 590 feet could not escape the 70's this PM...of note all 3 locations were chillier today than Mount Pocono who hit a 79 degree high. Just a beautiful stretch of weather!!

Yikes my point and click now has only 85 tomorrow....could this be yet another summer that we never see even one 90 degree day in higher spots of Chester County Pa?? Whatever happened to the warming we all expected??

As mentioned here in Chester County PA yesterday some spots like East Nantmeal remained in the 70's - well below our normal high in the low to mid-80's. This morning low temps across almost all spots in the county were in the mid to upper 50's with East Nantmeal being one of the warmer spots at just 58.8. Today will likely be our 5th consecutive below normal day...in fact that will make 23 of the last 33 days running below normal across the county. Our record high today is 99 from that hot summer of 1936. The record low was set on this date way back in 1898 at 45 degrees. Record daily rainfall was set today in 2009 when we received 2.09" of rain.

Or maybe zero 90+ days in Chester County!

Hello All, I am not sure which forum to use for this question. I have detailed daily data for my area from 1894 to Present. I have in in an excel file and run pivot tables to do analytics. However, does anyone know of a tool that can use this data to run queries and get returns such a quick search that will identify the highest and lowest monthly temps by month and associate the year in the output. Either my limited pivot table skills or function limitations don't seem to allow the association in pivot tables. I get simple ranking lists. Any help or direction would be most appreciated! Thank you! Paul

Today's highs temps may struggle to escape the 70's in many spots across the county. Back in 1936 that was far from the observed weather. On this day in 1936 (and on the 9th) the highest recorded temperature in Pennsylvania history (since 1887) was observed when Phoenixville in Chester County topped out at 111 degrees! While Phoenixville is the lowest spot in the county. It should be noted that even some of the relatively higher spots like West Chester (105 degrees) and Coatesville (104 degrees) exceeded the century mark on that hot July 11th. Our record low for today is the chilly 48 in 1983. Record daily rainfall is the 3.23" that fell on this date in 1931.

So far today we have received 0.66" of rain. That puts us at 87% of normal rain for the month and 103% to normal for the year to date. Today's record high temperature is 103 degrees set back in 1936. Our record lowest temperature is the 48 degrees set in 1984. The daily rainfall record is the 2.00" that fell in 1935.
