This does not look very warm to my eyes despite the alarmist talk of never before seen high temperature heat.... -
16 of our last 21 days here in July have been running with below average temperatures. That will change as the next 5 days should see temps running above normal. We could see some showers this afternoon and early evening. The heat really starts to build in by Thursday with many spots in the county touching the 90 degree mark. By Thursday and Friday even the ridge areas should see a rare 90 degree reading. Below normal temps look to return again by Sunday. Records for today: High 96 (1921) / Low 47 (1976) / Rain 2.00" (1916)

Some showers moved across Southern Chester County this AM with some additional showers possible through later this PM. Our temperatures should rise to near normal for the first time in over a week. Our chances for a heat wave for Chesco appear to be fading as it appears we may just miss 90 on Wednesday especially across the relatively higher terrain. However, both Thursday and Friday should exceed 90 before we cool back to near normal by the end of next weekend. Records for today: High 95 (1918) / Low 48 (1985) / Rain 1.23" (1911)

Morning lows were again below average today with many lower elevation spots reaching the 50's again. Today will be our 7th straight (but last) below normal day with highs topping out in the low to mid 80's. Temps should reach the 90's starting Wednesday for many areas in the county. In fact we could see our first "heat wave" (3 consecutive days over 90) since July 19-21, 2020. In fact in the last 20 years we have only recorded 10 "heat waves" in total here in Chesco! This heat will be short lived as the pattern will shift again by next weekend and we look to go back to near normal to below pattern through the first 10 days of August. Records for today: High 98 (1991) / Low 51 (1983) / Rain 4.04" (1946)

Some valley locations like Marsh Creek bottomed out at 59.8 this AM only 62.9 here in East Nantmeal. Today will be our 6th straight below normal temperature day. This cool streak looks to continue until Tuesday. By mid week we will see a big warmup with a great chance that even East Nantmeal and the ridge locations in the county may see their 1st 90 degree day in over 2 years! Friday looks like it may be the peak heat day. So enjoy the great weather this weekend!

After our 0.65" of rain this morning we are now all the way back to 95% of normal year to date rainfall through today. A top 10 weather weekend on the way with sunny skies slightly below normal temps and relatively low humidity. A slow warming trend starts next week and we could see our 1st 90+ day here in East Nantmeal for the first time in more than 2 years by the end of the week!

Nice day today with high temps not too far from normal. Rain chances ramp up again toward tomorrow morning with some models showing another inch of rain for parts of the county. We should have a near perfect weekend with near normal temps for late July. Records for today: High 99 (1930) / Low 48 (1966) / Rain 4.78" (1979)

Some chances for showers and t-storms return late this PM but a better chance by Thursday into Thursday night. But not a washout as we should see some sun each day. Of note today the average temperature is 75.7 degrees - this is on average the warmest day of the calendar year. Beginning tomorrow we begin trending down in average temperatures reaching our coldest average day on January 21st at 24.6 degrees. Records for today: High 100 (1900) / Low 51 (1976) / Rain 2.61" (1903)

We received a total of 1.23" of rain over the weekend in East Nantmeal. A bit hazy again today thanks to our friends to the north. Temperatures will top out in the upper 80's for most of the county but humidity levels will be lower than yesterday. Rain chances increase again by later tomorrow and again on Thursday and Friday. Records for today: High 100.5 (1900) / Low 46 (1976) / Rain 1.81" (2018)

In East Nantmeal we have picked up 1.06" of rain since yesterday with 0.61" falling so far today. It looks like some areas in eastern parts of Chester County have already picked up nearly 3" of rain. More storms are possible through early PM before lesser chances later today. Tomorrow looks to be pretty hot with temps reaching the upper 80's before somewhat cooler for the rest of the week. Records for today: High Temp 100 (1988) Low 46 (1929) / Rain 2.02" (1912)

Today in Chester County weather history back in 1988 we hit the 100 degree mark for the first time since 1966. Since 1988 we have hit the 100 degree mark only 1 time - that was on August 2, 2002. We have reached the century mark a total of 41 times since 1894. In the 40 years since observations began at elevations above 640 feet (1983) we have experienced only 2 such days. The decade with the most 100 degree days was the 1st decade of the 1900's with 13 days over 100 degrees! There were no 100 degree days recorded in the 1920's / 1970's / 1990's/ 2010's or so far in the 2020's. Not only will we not see a 100 degree day this month...I don't see any chances for a 90 degree day across most of the county during the rest of July. This will continue our streak of no 90+ days since June 30, 2021. Rain chances ramp up by tomorrow AM with some models showing 1.5" to 2" of rain. Records for today: High 100 (1998) Low 50 (1895) / Rain 1.76" (1926)

It looks like most of the 90 degree temps yesterday across Chester County were in the lower spots under 500 ft ASL. Muggy today with some showers and thunderstorms possible late this afternoon into tonight. Tomorrow looks like the driest day of the weekend before rain chances increase again for Sunday. Records for today: High 100 (1954) / Low 51 (1904) / Rain 2.98" (1928)
