I see some of you neighbors to the west have reported some light snow and sleet this morning. If we see some light precip making it his far east we may see some ourselves this AM. The steady rain should arrive around the 2pm hour today and last through about 4am Wednesday morning. Most models show a general 1.5" to 2.0" of rain. We are over 5.5" below normal in the rain department this year. After today dry weather should continue through the holiday weekend. Tomorrow looks to be our one day with above normal temps before a return to below normal weather for most of the next week. Records for today: High 76 (1900) / Low 17 (1951) / Rain 2.29" (1952) / Snow 1.5" (2008)

Today will be almost 10 degrees colder in spots compared to yesterday. A nice sunny fall day before rain moves in tomorrow morning. There is a chance some higher spots in NW Chesco could see a few flakes of snow or some ice pellets if the precipitation moves in fast enough in the AM. Either way it looks like between 1.5" to 2.0" of rain are possible tomorrow with chilly temps remaining in the low to mid 40's across the county. Below normal temps and dry weather look likely for the rest of the holiday week. Records for today: High 75 (1985) / Low 16 (1951) / Rain 1.80 (1952) / Snow 0.8" (1937)

The Euro ensemble keeps us solidly colder than normal from today right into Christmas week....GFS closer to normal to a little below -
Many spots across the county had a frosty low in the 20's....the exceptions were some of the higher spots like where I am in East Nantmeal where we were no lower than 34 degrees this morning. Unfortunately, we are now almost 2" below normal rainfall for the month of November and 5.5" below our year to date average rain. The good news is that after the next coupled dry days we should see some beneficial rain moving in from southwest to northeast across the area on Tuesday afternoon. Most models agree on around 1.5" of rain before ending by daybreak on Wednesday. Below normal temps are likely for the rest of November. Records for today: High 74 (1913) / Low 12 (1924) / Rain 1.74" (1988) / Snow 3.0" (1955)

We picked up 0.08" of rain overnight for a total of 0.10". The 0.08" that fell so far today is the most rain in a day since the 0.17" on October 29th. Temps have slowly been falling this morning with now mid-40's across the area since a midnight high temperature in the mid to upper 50's. We should not see below normal temperatures through the remainder of November and into the first week of December. The NWS has us getting back to the low 50's for much of the area...I suspect most of the county will actually struggle to make it out of the 40's today. Tomorrow looks to be our "mildest" day of the week with some spots touching 50 degrees. We should finally see some significant rain by Tuesday afternoon ending by Wednesday morning. Some spots could see almost 1" of needed rain. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend looks chilly and dry with days in the low 40's and nights in the 20's. Records for today: High 77 (1896) / Low 12 (1924) / Rain 1.21" (1929) / Snow 1.0" (1955)

Our last mild day with above normal temps will be today before the turn to below normal temps through much of the rest of November and in to the month of December. Partly sunny today with some light showers possible late tonight. The cold front crosses toward daybreak tomorrow and temperatures tomorrow will hold steady or slowly fall through the 40's. Some higher locales will struggle to escape the 40's all of the next week. We finally have a likely rain event starting on Tuesday afternoon. We could see near 1.5" of rain across much of Chester County. Even colder by Thanksgiving day with some higher elevation spots struggling to reach the mid-30's. Records for today: High 76 (1896) / Low 9 (1933) / Rain 3.40" (1935) / Snow 1.0" (1980)

Well it is getting closer to that time of year for a snow history repost. So what are the largest snowstorms in Chester County history? See the top 25 below. Of interest...8 of the top 25 storms have fallen since the turn of the century in 2000.

Lower elevation spots this morning again fell below freezing while here in East Nantmeal on the ridges we could drop no lower than 36.5 degrees. We should see temperatures today run almost 10 degrees above normal today and tomorrow before a sharp turn back to colder than normal to last likely through the remainder of November. Rain chances but not much rain increase Friday evening with the front...models snow up to 0.10" across western portions of the county but less as we head east bound. Looking ahead we finally have a shot at some beneficial rains by next Tuesday...fingers crossed as we need some rain. Records for today: High 73 (1990) / Low 7 above zero (1908) this was the earliest single digit low temperature in Chester County history. Rain 2.08" (1928) / Snow 1.3" just 5 years ago back in (2018).

Exactly! the first 4 months were well above our new higher average temps with the current warming with 4 of the last 7 now going below those new normals. -
It made it down to the mid-20's in many of the valley locations here in the county. Relative elevation makes a difference around here - as in East Nantmeal we could do no better than 30.2 degrees for the low. Temps will remain slightly below normal today before rising to well above normal by tomorrow and Friday with highs in the low 60's. Colder weather will set in during the weekend and it appears the remainder of November and into December will feature below normal temperatures. We do have some rain chances by Friday night but amounts look very light. Records for today: 78 (1993) / Low 16 (1905) / Rain 2.18" (1914) / Snow 9.5" (1906). That snowstorm in 1906 was the largest November storm in Chester County history. Some other area totals with that storm included Hamburg in Berks County with 6.1" and West Chester recorded 5.8" of early season snow.

Thanks Tim!! I am sure they will appreciate that!! It's a shame folks just can't read my disclaimers....LOL!!

It looks like they actually picked up my Chester County Weather Page Facebook post and a couple ski areas along with Channel 69 referenced my post in this video!. The folks that shared my page drove my weather site to pick up over 1700 new followers since the Saturday post. I am approaching 6k followers. Sadly many seem to not understand the differences between model guidance and a forecast. My constant tagline on the site is "we don't shovel or plow model snow!: but folks don't listen!

We are running at over 1 degree chillier than normal so far here in November and a colder than normal pattern looks increasingly likely to continue for most of the rest of November. After starting 2023 with 4 straight above normal months - this will mark 4 of the last 7 months to feature below normal temperatures across our area. Today will turn increasingly windy by late this morning and temps will struggle to escape the 40's across the higher spots in the county. A very brief warming trend for both Thursday and Friday before the cold air returns on Friday night. We really need some rain...unfortunately while there is a chance of some rain by Friday night I am not optimistic. Records for today: High 74 (1955) / Low 14 (1920) / Rain 1.58" (1972) / Snow 5.0" (1908)
