  1. It is hotter on hot sunny days but also runs a bit cooler at night and generally evens out statistically with the other stations on my property
  2. Tim climate change is a fact and cannot be disproven! The Chester County data clearly supports cyclical climate change!!
  3. I do NOT want to discuss this as we have proven the data and beaten this topic to death! I never discuss it unless someone decides to question the statistical validity of the data presented. If you don't mention it - either will I
  4. Ray - anti-climate change huh? I am the biggest believer in cyclical climate change as you know....
  5. But we actually did statistically prove and validate the data....can't say much more than that....it is what it is and certainly the best we have for this area.
  6. As we have stated often - the statistical data analytics on my data has proven the data to be statistically valid based on the p-values....it cannot be that close based on chance -hence why we do statistical analysis.
  7. Guidelines indicate when possible....but when typical of the surrounding area it is appropriate it is good to go. I have multiple thermometers across my property including a poorly sited rooftop station and they are all statistically the same.
  8. Temperature sensor siting: The sensor should be mounted 5 feet +/- 1 foot above the ground. The ground over which the shelter [radiation] is located should be typical of the surrounding area. A level, open clearing is desirable so the thermometers are freely ventilated by air flow. Do not install the sensor on a steep slope or in a sheltered hollow unless it is typical of the area or unless data from that type of site are desired. When possible, the shelter should be no closer than four times the height of any obstruction (tree, fence, building, etc.). The sensor should be at least 100 feet from any paved or concrete surface.
  9. We picked up 0.26" between both rounds of rain last night...much more fell to the west of Chesco. Showers and t-storm chances will continue through the weekend...not a washout but keep those umbrellas handy. We do need the rain. Yesterday should be the last time this year most spots in the county see a 90 degree reading. Here in East Nantmeal we failed to exceed 90 degrees for the 2nd straight summer. This is the 4th time in my 20 years of local observations in EN that we did not reach 90 even rounded in a summer. Records for today: High 95 (1939) / Low 40 (1984) / Rain 5.36" (1987)

  11. High Temps today here in NW Chesco - Ambient station made it to 89.7 - Davis VP2 hit 89.1 and the rooftop Tempest hit 90.5. The heaviest of the evening storm passed just NW of East Nantmeal as we have received 0.19" so far

  13. One more day of 90+ temps across much of the county before rain chances increase with showers possible starting this evening through the weekend. Some models have well over an inch of needed rain by Monday morning. We have only seen one day with measurable rain in the last 12 days and that was only 0.09" on the 30th. Records for today: High 93 (1954) / Low 37 (1924) / Rain 2.57" (2011)
  14. What type of station do you have? I have a VP Pro 2 with the fan aspirated heat shield...this seems to do a great job with keeping spikes in check....even with this hot spell I have failed to touch 90 degrees. I have had the same model station in the same location for now 20 full years....in all of that time I have only recorded 78 days over 90 and none in over 2 years!

  16. Made it to 88.4 on the "official" VP station and 88.7 on my Ambient model. The roof top station did hit 90+ for the 3rd straight day...still no 90+ days here in East Nantmeal in more than 2 years! Last chance for a 90 plus day this year looks to be tomorrow....

  18. We were actually a little bit "cooler" across most locations in Chester County yesterday compared to Monday with more spots falling short of the 90 degree mark. Today and tomorrow should for almost all locations (exception likely being East Nantmeal) see temps into the low 90's. Records for today: High 96 (1900) / Low 38 (1924) / Rain 2.96" (2008)

  20. Most spots reached the low 90's yesterday and should get close to that same level today. Here in East Nantmeal we were oh so close 89.4 degrees!! But, will have to hope today or tomorrow to reach the elusive 90 degree mark. My rooftop station (Tempest) did reach 92.1 degrees for the 3rd time this year... but both properly sited ground stations could do not better than 89.6 (Ambient) and 89.4. (Davis VP) Records for today: High 95 (1898) / Low 42 (1988) / Rain 3.47" (1979)

  22. Off to the warmest morning low (71.1) here in East Nantmeal since July 28th which should be a nice launching pad to see if we can surpass 90 degrees for the 1st time since June 30, 2021 here in EN. If not today better chances both Tuesday and Wednesday. Records for today High 94 (1964) / Low 44 (1987) / Rain 2.30" (1935)
