Another 0.75" of rain has fallen since this morning now up to 1.05" for the day and a storm total of 1.75" of rain -
As of 10am we have received exactly 1" of rain so far here in East Nantmeal with 0.30" since midnight. More periods of rain will continue today into tonight much of this due to some local enhancement of the rain due to a modest upslope flow from the east. The weather should slowly improve by tomorrow but smaller chances of rain can continue till Tuesday. Temperatures will continue to run well below normal with highs in the low 60's before warming to closer to normal by the end of the work week. Records for today: High 93 (1970) / 32 (1963) / Rain 2.79" (1912)

More periods of rain will continue today into tonight much of this due to some local enhancement of the rain due to a modest upslope flow from the east. This is due to a little extra lift as air ascends up the hills across the area squeezing out some additional moisture. The weather should slowly improve by tomorrow but smaller chances of rain can continue till Tuesday. Temperatures will continue to run well below normal with highs in the low 60's before warming to closer to normal by the end of the work week. A pretty big early season noreaster is on the way that will impact the County this weekend. Look for rain to arrive shortly after midnight and fall heavy at times tomorrow through Sunday morning. It should become more showery in nature by Sunday into Monday before ending. Of note tomorrow will likely see many of the higher spots across the area fail to escape the 50's for high temperatures....so a mighty chiller early fall day which arrives at 2:50am overnight tonight. Records for today: High 99 (1895) / Low 31 (1904) / Rain 1.81" (1975)

The Phightin Phils may have some issues getting in their Saturday game vs. the Mets. Records for today: HIgh 100 (1895) / Low 30 (1956) / Rain 4.30" (1979) -

Longer look back from May through September to date for temperature departures from normal...not too toasty!!
-
I figured I'd take a look at the departure from normal for astronomical summer....looks mighty normal for all of PA .

Our recent stretch of below normal temps looks to continue through much of the week. Nice weather through Friday but then needed rain is looking likely for the weekend. In addition to the rain...Saturday could be a mighty raw for September day with some of the highest spots in the county possibly not escaping the upper 50's. On a historical weather note today back in 1895 began the greatest late season heatwave across Chester County with the following locations all recording their first of 4 consecutive days over 90 degrees. Temperatures topped out at 100 at Coatesville; and 97 at West Chester, Phoenixville and Devault. On the opposite side of the weather spectrum, today was also the earliest recorded freezing temperature, with a 32 degree low observed at both Coatesville and in West Chester back in 1956 Records for today: High 93 (1895) / Low 32 (1956) / Rain 2.48" (1938)

Our great autumnal weather continues for the remainder of this week. Temps should tend to average a bit below normal for latter September. Tonight looks to be the chilliest night with many lower spots across the county seeing temps falling into the 40's. Rain chances increase from south to north by Saturday afternoon. Records for today: High 92 (1983) / Low 36 (1943) / Rain 3.27" (1894)

Early sun today will fade quickly behind clouds with showers arriving during the 2pm hour across much of Chester County. The latest NAM shows a general 3/4 inch of rain...other models less than a 1/2 inch. If this was winter it could be the difference between 4" of snow to 8"...in late summer we just enjoy the needed rain! Records for today: High 93 (1898) / Low 35 (1990) / Rain 3.90" (1945)
