What type of station do you have? I have a VP Pro 2 with the fan aspirated heat shield...this seems to do a great job with keeping spikes in check....even with this hot spell I have failed to touch 90 degrees. I have had the same model station in the same location for now 20 full years....in all of that time I have only recorded 78 days over 90 and none in over 2 years!

One more day of 90+ temps across much of the county before rain chances increase with showers possible starting this evening through the weekend. Some models have well over an inch of needed rain by Monday morning. We have only seen one day with measurable rain in the last 12 days and that was only 0.09" on the 30th. Records for today: High 93 (1954) / Low 37 (1924) / Rain 2.57" (2011) -
Made it to 88.4 on the "official" VP station and 88.7 on my Ambient model. The roof top station did hit 90+ for the 3rd straight day...still no 90+ days here in East Nantmeal in more than 2 years! Last chance for a 90 plus day this year looks to be tomorrow....

We were actually a little bit "cooler" across most locations in Chester County yesterday compared to Monday with more spots falling short of the 90 degree mark. Today and tomorrow should for almost all locations (exception likely being East Nantmeal) see temps into the low 90's. Records for today: High 96 (1900) / Low 38 (1924) / Rain 2.96" (2008)

Most spots reached the low 90's yesterday and should get close to that same level today. Here in East Nantmeal we were oh so close 89.4 degrees!! But, will have to hope today or tomorrow to reach the elusive 90 degree mark. My rooftop station (Tempest) did reach 92.1 degrees for the 3rd time this year... but both properly sited ground stations could do not better than 89.6 (Ambient) and 89.4. (Davis VP) Records for today: High 95 (1898) / Low 42 (1988) / Rain 3.47" (1979)

Off to the warmest morning low (71.1) here in East Nantmeal since July 28th which should be a nice launching pad to see if we can surpass 90 degrees for the 1st time since June 30, 2021 here in EN. If not today better chances both Tuesday and Wednesday. Records for today High 94 (1964) / Low 44 (1987) / Rain 2.30" (1935)

Another below normal day today across the County...but by Monday we look to start our most sustained heat of the summer to date. It could even be a "heat wave" with 3 or more consecutive days over 90 degrees. Of course while many spots in the county should see multiple days over 90...I suspect East Nantmeal and other relatively higher spots will top out in the upper 80's for the most part....but fingers crossed I can see my first 90+ day in over 2 years!! Records for today: High 102 (1953) / Low 42 (1934) / Rain 2.00" (1959)

Hi Mount Joy No worries! Go to my website at www.chescowx.com for the detailed NWS observer names etc. and site moves across the 9 NM of Chester County during the period of record. The data has been statistically validated with significance testing (p <0.05) across this entire period 1894 to Present. While there have been differences.. slight snowfall increases as expected with the additional small elevation moves...they have been non-statistical as you can see below comparing the lower elevation obs through 1982 vs. the higher elevation obs since 1983. Overall strong consistency in the data over the relatively modest elevation increases across NWS COOP sites over the last 130 years.

So we finished August with our 3rd below normal month in the last 4 months. The maximum temperature we recorded here in East Nantmeal during the month of August was only 83.1 degrees on the 15th. This is the lowest maximum temp for the month of August ever recorded in Chester County. The old low max record was the 84 degree max from August 1927! Here in Chester County we finished the summer months of June through August as the 13th coldest summer (70.3) since records began 130 years ago. If we look at the 4 warm months of May thru August we finished as the 8th coldest (67.3) 4-month spring/summer stretch since 1894. See the table below for both rankings. Rain wise the June-August period was the 27th wettest summer with 17.13" of rain. I will be sure to post the stats for the other long running NWS COOP Chester County sites across the county later today. As cool as it has been this summer...we are about to finally get a taste of summer now that we are starting the first month of autumn. We should see widespread 90+ temps from Monday through Wednesday before we cool down to closer to normal levels by next weekend.

After the overnight showers we should see some great weather through the weekend. We will start below normal temperatures through Saturday....we then start a big warmup that could actually bring the first 90+ day to my station here in East Nantmeal in over 2 years! The last 90+ day was way back on June 30, 2021. In fact we could see a few days in a row over 90 degrees...especially in the lower elevations of the county. Records for today: High 100 (1953) / Low 39 (1986) / Rain 3.40" (1946)

Cloudy and still a bit humid today with rain chances increasing from south to north late tonight through Tuesday night. Models are bit all over the place on amounts but a general 0.25" to 0.75" look likely. The weather looks great from Wednesday PM through next weekend. Chilly temps toward the end of the week but warming by the end of the weekend. Records for today: High 98 (1973) Low 38 (1982) - of note this was the earliest sub-40 degree reading in Chester County since records began in 1888. Record Rain 3.23" (2011)

Today should be near normal high temps for the day at near 80 degrees. Of note we have only reached the 80 degree mark 11 times through the first 26 days of August. Dry weather continues till towards Tuesday AM when shower chances ramp up. Sun returns on Wednesday but temperature look to remain below normal for the entire upcoming week. Records for today: High 98 (1900) / Low 46 (1968) / Rain 5.25" (1971)
