  1. Sorry Ray here is the actual average temperature comparison for the above - can't get any more exact than this!! Coatesville 2W = 52.672 East Nantmeal = 52.673
  2. In East Nantmeal we picked up 0.08" of rain so far since last night. It appears rain chances will be ramping up across the County later today through Sunday night. We do need the rain as we are now over 4 inches below our normal year to date rainfall through yesterday. Records for today: High 94 (1959) / Low 38 (1975) / Rain 2.15" (1972)
  3. Correct I just wanted to see how much of a difference a poorly sited station can make.

  5. I have moved the ambient around from more shaded spots to the south hill most sun exposed location with no real variations...clearly the rooftop station should always be warmest...and not valid - the others are right in line with each other
  6. You are correct!! As you know I am a bit of a data and weather weenie and I put it there precisely to prove that a poorly sited weather station and climate data can make an approximate 1 degree difference in average temperature. But it also clearly proves that my other 2 stations sited correctly according to NWS standards are accurate for a rural location in the county I live in.
  7. Hey Birds Ran the numbers below some surprises to me that during the summer months May through August my Ambient station which is in full sun most of the day and on a slight south facing slope ended up cooler in 3 of the 4 months and also overall than my VP2 which actually gets a bit more shade then the Ambient. Of course the roof runs warmer but about what you would expect with that siting - interesting - thanks for making me do the analysis!! Imagine if I used the coolest station on my property and used that for my analysis?? The folks would be even more up in arms!! LOL!!
  8. Could do no better than 84.3 on the VP2 84.0 on the Ambient and even the rooftop Tempest 86.7 (see below) failed to touch 90 today ending it's longest stretch ever since it was installed back in 2020 of 90+ days! See it can get to 90 in East Nantmeal.....just need some toasty roof tiles!!
  9. You can see the sea breeze front starting to pop some storms from SW to NE NJ
  10. It hit 90 3 straight days this week! But of course poorly sited
  11. They don't bring it up again and I won't either - I simply will report the data without commentary or "drivel"
  12. It is hotter on hot sunny days but also runs a bit cooler at night and generally evens out statistically with the other stations on my property
  13. Tim climate change is a fact and cannot be disproven! The Chester County data clearly supports cyclical climate change!!
  14. I do NOT want to discuss this as we have proven the data and beaten this topic to death! I never discuss it unless someone decides to question the statistical validity of the data presented. If you don't mention it - either will I
  15. Ray - anti-climate change huh? I am the biggest believer in cyclical climate change as you know....
  16. But we actually did statistically prove and validate the data....can't say much more than that....it is what it is and certainly the best we have for this area.
  17. As we have stated often - the statistical data analytics on my data has proven the data to be statistically valid based on the p-values....it cannot be that close based on chance -hence why we do statistical analysis.
  18. Guidelines indicate when possible....but when typical of the surrounding area it is appropriate it is good to go. I have multiple thermometers across my property including a poorly sited rooftop station and they are all statistically the same.
  19. Temperature sensor siting: The sensor should be mounted 5 feet +/- 1 foot above the ground. The ground over which the shelter [radiation] is located should be typical of the surrounding area. A level, open clearing is desirable so the thermometers are freely ventilated by air flow. Do not install the sensor on a steep slope or in a sheltered hollow unless it is typical of the area or unless data from that type of site are desired. When possible, the shelter should be no closer than four times the height of any obstruction (tree, fence, building, etc.). The sensor should be at least 100 feet from any paved or concrete surface.
  20. We picked up 0.26" between both rounds of rain last night...much more fell to the west of Chesco. Showers and t-storm chances will continue through the weekend...not a washout but keep those umbrellas handy. We do need the rain. Yesterday should be the last time this year most spots in the county see a 90 degree reading. Here in East Nantmeal we failed to exceed 90 degrees for the 2nd straight summer. This is the 4th time in my 20 years of local observations in EN that we did not reach 90 even rounded in a summer. Records for today: High 95 (1939) / Low 40 (1984) / Rain 5.36" (1987)

  22. High Temps today here in NW Chesco - Ambient station made it to 89.7 - Davis VP2 hit 89.1 and the rooftop Tempest hit 90.5. The heaviest of the evening storm passed just NW of East Nantmeal as we have received 0.19" so far

  24. One more day of 90+ temps across much of the county before rain chances increase with showers possible starting this evening through the weekend. Some models have well over an inch of needed rain by Monday morning. We have only seen one day with measurable rain in the last 12 days and that was only 0.09" on the 30th. Records for today: High 93 (1954) / Low 37 (1924) / Rain 2.57" (2011)
