  1. We have one more reinforcing cold shot. Tuesday morning freezes for many, Wednesday morning for most, and then I'm declaring growing season officially open.
  2. The final and most intense snow squall of the day moved through my area around 7 pm. It was already weakening with distance from the core of the cold pool and the loss of daytime heating, but still produced a few moments of near-whiteout conditions.
  3. One of the few things that everyone on the boards agrees on. Love to see it.
  4. I had one grauple-fest a few hours ago and then intermittent snow showers since then. It seems that something more of a congealed squall is taking shape off to the NW in association with the strongest dPVA. The mesos had been picking up in this last night.
  5. 184 days between my first (Nov 7) and presumed last (May 9) measurable snowfall of the season here. Would have been nice to notch October in there, but I can live with a seven-month winter.
  6. I lied. It's been snowing pretty steadily for a while and now up to 0.3". All surfaces are sufficiently cool to allow for accumulation, so it's a shame that precip is finally shutting off.
  7. 0.1" on the board here will probably do it. A lot more on cold, elevated surfaces, but I'll be good...
  8. Doesn't even look *that* slushy there. The coating here got a bit whiter when rates peaked, but your pic could have been taken in January for all anyone can tell.
  9. Congrats, buddy. Memorable day. Ups the 19-20 winter grade from an F- to a solid F.
  10. The spring peepers sounding off in the background while the air is filled with snow is a heck of a juxtaposition.
  11. I wouldn't total another truck to experience hail like that again, but I'll admit it was a thrill.
  12. Just had a mighty gust from the NW and then precip flipped to snow like a switch. Incredible.
  13. Yeah, this is the case for me as well I believe. Though if I'd seen a stray flake at some point in like 2002 I'm not so sure I'd remember. Remarkably, one week from today is the 2nd anniversary of the worst severe wx day in the modern history of the HV. I love living in the mid-latitudes! Still 39F here with a light SE flow, though the fropa is just minutes away per radar.
  14. Radar looks pretty okay on the cold side of the front. We may find a middle-ground between "renegade back-end flakes" and "Wednesday's models."
  15. The hi-res models still look good for a coupletwothree hours of post-frontal snow starting between 10 and 11. I'll stay up for it.
  16. I was smoking an outstanding cigar tonight (Midnight Express maduro by Caldwell) and had a moment of overdue clarity in my relaxed state of mind: it's probably not gonna snow that much on May 9th. We back-end coating if we lucky.
  17. It's funny, the other day I was thinking about sequence of moods from "want snow for snow's sake" to "don't want snow" and then "want snow again for the novelty" as spring progresses. If you asked me one month ago I'd have said to heck with it. Now, bring it on.
  18. I just want enough snow so I can draw the date on top of the car with my finger. I know that shot became obsolete with digital exif data that tells you the millisecond it was created, but I still enjoy it
  19. How we also pray. Let's get this inside of 48, please.
