  1. We could probably get twice that amount AND -30 temps and she'd probably not move. She's a stubborn woman.
  2. 42.6 inches in Hazleton/Tamaqua is the biggest number I've ever seen for my backyard on a model map.
  3. Freezing rain is in the forecast, but no mention of any ice accumulation. Just what appears to be 2 inches of snow and sleet. Saturday Snow likely before 5pm, then snow and sleet likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. Saturday Night Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 1am, then freezing rain between 1am and 4am, then a chance of snow after 4am. The sleet could be heavy at times. Low around 25. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.
  4. If it could come in here early enough, say by 8am, it would make for great photos and videos of the steam train. The Reading and Northern is doing an iron horse ramble tomorrow. Steam, cold, and snow is an awesome combination and can be a real sight to behold if the engine is pounding the rails, as it will pulling the grade here in Tamaqua.
  5. Black ice supposedly caused a double fatal on the Blue Mountain on PA309 this morning. The road's been closed for three hours so far. It's our only route with the permitted overweight 8,000 gallon trailers we pull, so the guys are sitting right now. https://www.wfmz.com/news/area/poconos-coal/coroner-called-to-scene-of-accident-on-rt-309/article_6b91f54a-e550-11ef-93f2-5f7a33143e2f.html
  6. It's all good. I certainly don't want to ruffle any feathers as we have a great group of people here. It just gets confusing as to which storm is being talked about or which map goes to which storm.
  7. I guess you don't like the idea? It's ok. It was just a suggestion/thought. We don't have to do it.
  8. Just a thought, but with so many systems coming at us, I'm wondering if maybe we should have threads for each individual one.
  9. Same here. 33.4 was my high so far, but have now dropped back to 32.9
  10. 32.2 here, so I've crossed the threshold. Getting the heaviest precipitation of the event right now as well, which, of course is just plain rain.
  11. Probably won't hurt to get the heavier stuff off, then let the temps melt the rest. That's what I'm doing.
  12. Took a 3 degree rise in temperature to 29 now, but have a lull in precipitation.
  13. Ok. I didn't see this one coming, but right now I have 100% snow falling. No rain. No pings. Just a light snow with moderate sized flakes.
  14. Things got kind of quiet outside. Either it slowed down/stopped, or we have more frz rain now and less sleet. Gotta go check. Temp holding steady at 26.
  15. Got about a 50/50 mix of frz rain and pingers here. Temp is 26.
  16. 33 here as well, but at this point yet it's a nice, sunny day.
  17. I wish I could remember the exact numbers, but we had a decent period of snow before the sleet assault (perhaps 4 inches). Then I'd say we got another 2 inches of sleet before a crazy 2 hour warm-up where we went plain rain and a temp spike to 40 degrees. All that frozen soaked up the rain like a sponge, and then we went flash freeze with a flip back to heavy snow for a couple hours before it ended. That 2 hours of rain on top of the snow and sleet, followed by the flash freeze, was what set up the I-78 and I-81 disasters.
  18. I'm on a medical leave of absence from work, so in that respect, i want to say "let it rip'. Flip side of that, though, is that my neighbor who used to help me clear snow is one that didn't approve of my going to AZ to help my mom, so now he doesn't help me, so all the snow removal for 2 properties and 3 vehicles is on me. That part makes me wish this wasn't coming.
  19. I don't remember my forecast low, but 24 is my backyard low this morning. Tonight's forecast low is 22, so we'll see. My point forecast did add more ice on top of the 1-2 inches of snow/sleet expected. New numbers as of last check seemed like .1 to .3 ice accretion.
  20. Me too, which is why I'm following this despite the fact that its not good for my mental health. I'm in a precarious place as it is. The past two and a half years have been hell. Perhaps if they didn't have such a negative effect on my job it wouldn't be so bad. I'm outdoors 60% of my shift. The trucks don't like that kind of cold, especially the business end of loading and unloading.
  21. No, not again... Why would anyone want this? I love summer and heat, but I don't want 100 degrees. I'm quite happy with 80. Can't figure out why anyone would want painful, extreme cold air.
  22. That's easier said than done. If I want to escape my winter misery, I have to divorce my wife because she isn't going anywhere.
  23. Good God... I'm beginning to think I really should have taken the big D and stayed in Arizona.
