0.59" so far here. Radar looks juicy to the west and south though.

Looks like most of that popcorn is in true central PA right now. Not sure if it pops here in the east or not. Time will tell I guess.

So I got (much to my chagrin) 0.22" overnight. My frustration with the storms hitting the same areas (NEPA) not withstanding is not why I posted this. My reason is that I'm pretty impressed with the new Tempest weather station I bought. While perusing nearby stations, I'm within five one hundredths of everyone else. The range is from 0.17" to 0.26" all around me. At least one of them is a Davis Vantage Pro 2, so the hepatic gauge seems to be pretty accurate. I can't get a good read on wind, though, as we really haven't had anything noteworthy yet, as well as the fact that my station is mounted a bit low for now until I get a mast for it. So with that said, I have no problem recommending a Tempest for anyone in the market for a simple, easy to set up, station.

I have no hope for Tamaqua. Most boring weather shit hole in the state....

Judging by the current radar presentation as well as being on the eastern edge of the flood watch, I'll be on the outside looking in again today. This time to my west.

Impressive! Please send that this way please. My new Tempest wx station needs a good test. Also need to figure out a new mount. It's too low right now because I had a 1.25" pole for the old one and this one has a one inch mount. Current thinking is to use an old rake handle, unless I can find a one inch metal pole at the hardware store. And....I am connected to Wunderground now, so my signature has the new station link.

Just looked and indeed they are. Very slow movers, too. Wayne County in NEPA is also getting it good. With this soup outside, I'm surprised it isn't more widespread, and is pretty much confined to those two locations

Up and running. Set up was easy peasy. Just have to figure out how to link it to Wunderground.

I found a present on my front porch. Not sure if I can get it set up before we go out to dinner or not, but I'll be back in PWS business soon!!!

Man, do I ever miss having a weather station. Hopefully my new one comes over the weekend.

You sound just like me. I know it's probably wrong, but I want my turn with a true severe event with flooding rains, wind, and strobe like lightning. Just like in winter with snow, I want to get dumped on. I'm a "go big, or go home" type of weather weenie...lol

The same areas keep getting it over and over again. Same thing with winter storms. Wish I knew why it happens.

No doubt I'll miss out on the action again...

That and storm lovers. I love storms, don't get them. My wife hates them, get them where she works. In reality, I think someone sprayed storm repellent on me when I wasn't paying attention.

I got 0.1" according to the USGS automated gauge a quarter mile upstream from my house along the river...lol

And as usual, the worst looked like it was heading towards Tamaqua but struck south. That town just repels severe storms.

Severe warned coming up soon. Southern Schuylkill already warned. Looks like some good stuff incoming from the southwest.

I will. I've had two stations with wind cups, and I could almost never get a reading above 20 mph, no matter how windy it was. I've had the house shake, check the reading and...15.9 mph. Doesn't seem right. The readings themselves were questionable. I had many, MANY, 13.6, 15.9, and 17.2 readings. Like it had pre-programmed increments. We'll see how the rain sensor works, but I've had a few times where the tipper in my station would get stuck in the tipped position and then stop measuring. It'll be interesting to see if the sensors in this one do better.

I didn't have to lean too much. Station already ordered.

I wish I could give a Tamaqua weather report, but my station took a crap. The main unit fried when I had to shut power down briefly. I could get a new main unit, but I've been intrigued by the Tempest weather stations, so leaning toward just getting a new set-up.
