    i went to Smuggs a couple times back in the late 80's. i could have sworn you could ski over to the Stowe side and catch the Stowe lift back up, but my memory could be cloudy from tons of bong hits in those days. Some epic college trips. it was like $250 per person for 5 nights (shared condo) and 4 lift tix

    wild. i am sure it is due to the overnight mins which have been mostly in the teens. The daytime hasn't exactly been warm, almost every day in the 20's with that god forsaken wind making feel like it is -50 the entirety of SNE and CNE just smashed their keyboards. mine will be smashed right after I click "Submit Reply"

    can't argue with anything in this post aside from the HS ski team thing. Pretty much every ski area has snowmaking, so even though it hasn't snowed in the area, there is ample coverage at a majority of ski areas. my guess it is more due to kids not wanting to participate or it being too expensive for the school

    I was able to rebuild, but it happened again today. This time the trash can was more like 30 feet away. will rebuild again

    because I don’t have gas. Well, I frequently have gas, but there is no gas service to my area. And no thanks on propane.

    what’s with the friggin hurricane outside? it’s windier today than it was during the HWW last week. I could use some sun if for no other reason than to warm my house up a bit. Currently freezing as I await the HVAC guy come to give me a quote to replace my oil furnace

    I was going to say that it looks like white ash, but wanted to wait to see @tamaracks answer in case I was wrong. those trees are toast. you will see some leaves next year, but will be mostly bare. Cut them down before they become a hazard. I had a dead one standing in my woods for the last couple of years, it finally came down in the wind the other day. the only way to stave off the ash borer beetle is preventative treatment before they invade. you are several years too late.

    beer? like @Layman said, there are a ton of variables in any weather event. Most of us enjoy reading those types of posts so we can learn what it takes for something to go right, or to go wrong. if we didn't talk about them, then might as well just shut the forum down.
