  1. now compare property values my theory is this: the lower property values cancel out the higher property taxes. In other words, a 2k sf house in NH cost the same as a 2k sf house in MA (all other things being equal)
  2. yes, NH has current use-but I think it is a minimum of 10 acres. I only have 5
  3. that's not really accurate. it totally depends on the location, the town it is in, and the "usability" of the land. I own 5 acres of land-locked land (not accessible from a road, but through another property). I pay around $500/year for taxes. I access it through abutting neighbors property with deeded permission.
  4. I look forward to my 50 foot depth this winter. because i have removed several million acorns from my yard over the past 8-10 weeks. every time it is windy, tons fall from the trees. I clean them up thinking-there can't be any more left in the tree. And then a week later, there are even more than there were before.
  5. was nice in the sun today, but it was short-lived. Had to throw on the shawl while sitting by the campfire earlier. It’s been somewhat dry though, 0.5” MTD
  6. i had some snow in October 2001. that's how i knew it was going to be a ratter oh look, pretty colors!
  7. i expect leaves to be on the lawn the day after. but what really triggers ME is when I am mowing and the wind blows them from where I have not yet mowed into the grass that i already mowed. The other trigger is after i get the front yard cleaned up and move to the back yard-by the time I am done in back I have to do the front yard again.
  8. clearly you have not had enough beer. gotta fill out that frame, or you are going to end up always being cold, much like our friend @weatherwiz
  9. 1/4” here. full of meh a bit of a chill in the air today while mowing the acorns.
  10. managed to get a little yard work done today, high of 68 but was pretty humid. 0.05” rain since 4pm
  11. i can't sleep without AC. last night would have been horrible, as my house stays wicked hot. Not to mention the fog outside, had windows been open everything would have been wet. No thanks.
  12. I went several years ago. it’s a great time (when it’s not super wet and muddy)
  13. aren't the nights pretty cool in April when you install?
  14. finished the month with a hair under 6” of rain. wet but not drenched
  15. sun was barely able to break through today. when it did it warmed up. but overall it was a cloudy, cool, seasonable day
  16. got down to 42 here. coldest of the season to date
  17. I saw two big wooly caterpillars over the weekend. One was all black with no brown stripe at all (crappy winter). The other was almost all brown with just a tip of black on both ends (good winter). They cancel each other out=average winter. Tons of acorns (good winter). Bee hives not high up but in the ground (crappy winter). They cancel each other out=average winter. that's my scientific analysis.
  18. based on his posts over the last several days, he is already standing on the railing with one foot over the edge.
