Nationwide hospitalizations are at a similar level as the peak of the summer 2020 surge. I would presume that the average age is younger this time.
in NH the last time the case #s were where they are at today, hospitalizations were 10x higher. 35 hospitalizations as of today, vs 1,000 total cases.

yeah it’s a perfect 67/66 with mosquitos out trying to catch covid from any and all humans. just the perfect summer evening. how anyone enjoys this shit is beyond me,

i had read that he had an agreement years ago with the landowner and supposedly was ok for him to be there. Even if not true, who's the a-hole arsonist that felt it necessary to burn it down?
i thought I read that the agreement was a handshake deal with the prior landowner, or maybe the father of the current landowner. At any rate, with nothing in writing, the court can't do anything for him.
and yeah, I have a feeling that there is a story behind the fire.

The NH guy's cabin was burned down. Coincidence? Too bad
the dude's cabin was on private property. He had been asked to leave for many years, including a court order for him to vacate the property. I am not linking that to the fire at the cabin, just saying that he has been trespassing for dozens of years. if it was my property, I would want him gone too.

I am 18 minutes into trying to cancel a free trial account with Sirius. We are about to reach the moment where they offer to lower the price.
i listen to XM pretty much every day. I have the highest subscription. every year at renewal time I call and tell them that I want to cancel. every single time they offer the same subscription at around half price. works every time and saves me $100/year

De Blasio to announce city vaccine mandate for indoor dining, gyms, drinking.
Alot of business will be lost. Many people still don't want to get vaccinated.
how the hell will that be enforced? Or will it be on the honor system? because there is no way in hell that poorly paid restaurant employess want anything to do with asking that question. Not to mention there is no way to prove vaccination, aside from an easily forged vaccination card.

The breakthrough case numbers in the US are going to be lower than reality because the CDC basically stopped tracking the mild cases in May and many states at least partially followed suit.
the article I quoted is specific to the severe breakthrough cases (hospitalizations and/or death).

Another 0.68” through the tipper and I was a local min. Gene had over an inch. Time to dry it out. There’s actually algae forming on the path down to the run and I slipped and fell on it this morning. Never fell on it when it was ice before. lol
friend in Sunapee had close to 4" last night.

FWIW:
[quote]
The CDC reported 6,587 COVID-19 breakthrough cases as of July 26, including 6,239 hospitalizations and 1,263 deaths. At that time, more than 163 million people in the United States were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Divide those severe breakthrough cases by the total fully vaccinated population for the result: less than 0.004% of fully vaccinated people had a breakthrough case that led to hospitalization and less than 0.001% of fully vaccinated people died from a breakthrough COVID-19 case.
Most of the breakthrough cases — about 74% — occurred among adults 65 or older. [\quote]

15.25" on the month. ok, that's enough. Can we turn off that god-forsaken drought monitor now?

it's been said a few times already but case counts are generally not worth much right now if many of them are mild....hospitalizations/deaths is what's important going forward.
9 hours ago, MJO812 said:I'm showing how many cases for the day
as Brian346346820321 said, case counts don't matter. as long as routine asymptomatic testing is being performed, case counts are useless.
For example, in NH, case counts are rising. however, what truly matters is that the hospitalizations are actually going down.

Those are vaccines in the true sense. Covid vaccine is not. They threw it together in a hurry and time will tell, but there are going to be big issues down the road based on art blues, studies, links posted in this thread and elsewhere. No one knows for certain exactly what , only that health issues are likely . None of us have ever gotten a flu shot. Half the time they don’t even have the right strand and we rarely if ever get the flu . And if you get the flu , guess what.. you get better. So why would healthy people feel the need to get this shot other than being scared by the media? If you’re healthy and get Covid… you get better .. just like any other flu .
you have been asked multiple times to show a link on the "big issues" that you are claiming the covid vaccines are causing.
as @WhitinsvilleWXhas stated and linked multiple times, the mRNA vaccine technology has been around for decades, and is perfectly safe. No one except you has stated that "health issues are likely" from the vaccine.
Post legit links that back up your claims that the vaccines are dangerous, or stop spewing this bullshit.

@Baroclinic Zonenails it, casedemic. As long as asymptomatic people are being regularly tested (which they are), we will continue to see case #s rise. what truly should matter is hospitalizations. as of yesterday, there were 23 in NH, even though cases continue to rise. I am reasonably sure that the 30 reporting hospitals can handle that number of people being treated. I am having trouble finding the peak # of hospitalizations in the state, but it was over 200 IIRC.
