being able to pull it back like that is a solid indication that you have grubs.

Major breakthrough in the neverending lawn saga....grubs. I've checked for these many times before but it was long after the damage was done and I saw none. I started raking a small section with my dethatcher and turned up a bunch of these fawkers. I had put down grubex about 6 wks ago too. Going to spread more tomorrow, but not sure why first treatment didn't work. Is it too late to try again?
I've got this huge sense of relief finally knowing what did all the damage over the years. I suspected grubs couple years ago but like I said, never saw them, so thought it might be chinch bugs. Please tell me it's not too late in season to whack them again. 7585169a9f6e6e30b856280148755e8e.jpgb33b75ef1a66f266e5b8edab698f0ab9.jpg

those of you who are not wanting to get vaccinated ought to read the RIP James thread.

Read that and ask yourself if you really want to take that chance, Possible side effects (I had zero (pfizer), or getting really sick and possibly die?? i know the odds are low, but do you really want to take that chance?

What was mem weekend, 2005 like ?

I really don't recall...  But that was the year of the infamous May cried out in terror ... with 2.5 week's worth of consecutive 42 F days with 3 nor easters in between drizzle.   0 sun, ever.  lol

anyway, seems that's a candidate for a pan-dimensional punt, too

i remember 40's & 50's and drizzle the entire weekend

  4. you guys who are getting the hangovers, try Toast -Before you Drink gummies

i know stuff like this sounds like snake oil,  and I thought so too before i tried them. As i got older, i was starting to get some bad hangovers. not wanting to really cut back on drinking, I had read about these on another forum, so I gave them a shot. yes, they actually work. i have a few friends who have tried them, and they all say that they really do eliminate the hangover. Yes, I might wake up tired and a little groggy, but no headache, no nausea, nothing like that.

and no, i have no affiliation with the company.

There are 18 cases in CT alone. That's potentially more than background. You wont find many more pro vax than me. But this makes me pause. Not for adults since this would have shown up by now. But for kids, I'll have to look at more data before I let mine get it.

oh i agree, but is it known that the vaccine caused the myo? Or did these kids have pre-existing conditions? or maybe they had the myo prior, and it was not known about?

i am just discussing possibilities here. my point is that the article is telling you in its own way that the vaccine caused the myo in these 18 kids, but I am arguing that it is not known.

What you say is true .

However was This was also said from the rooftops about blood clotting side effects in AstraZeneca in the trials ?

Seems  The article is assuming the total folks reporting effects so far will be the final amount effected and If that’s the case then the article would be right . But.. it’s early

part of the problem is that people only read/see the headline, exp. on social media. most humans are too lazy to read the whole thing.

The CDC has yet to determine if the vaccines were the cause of the reported heart condition.

“What’s important to know and to recognize is that the rates that we’re seeing of myocarditis are no higher than what we would experience normally,” Dr. Ted O’Connell told NBC San Diego. “So, we don’t know if it’s associated with the vaccine or not.”

    screaming this from the rooftops.

it may have NOTHING to do with the vaccine. the money line is the part that the rates are no higher than normal. Ridiculous click-bait headline and article, yet again.

I got the vaccine a few weeks ago. the very next day, I had a hangover. the headline: Local man hungover after being vaccinated.

While I need/want some rain for newly planted grass seed, too much at once is worse than none at all since you can water. That said, does anyone have tips for minimizing or preventing erosion and grass seed wash-away from heavy rain? NAM nails my location with a torrential squall line around 7-8 PM tomorrow and I have a whole bunch of loose top soil and grass seed that I don't want to lose. Ugh...

heavy, heavy prayers. there really isn't much you can do. you can try hay bales to stop the flow, and there are erosion control things on the market, but $$

They make inverter window ac's now.. They are variable capacity just like mini splits. Your old window units just turn on and off drawing like 1000 watts. They are often way oversized for a small bedroom. Inverter units can vary its cooling output from 200-1000 watts.

Inverter units are 9 times quite and use around half the electricity.

i just bought one of those, the 12k btu version. i haven't installed it yet so i don't know how well it works.

Thanks. Yeah for my wife and I the deductible will be $4k and the company contributes 1k through the same way you described... every pay period through the year.

Looks like it’s just copays once the deductible is met. I don’t think I’d come close to reaching the out of pocket maximum, which is like 13 grand.  It would take a lot of co pays to make up another 9 thousand lol.

I guess even if you get whacked early on in the year, you’re still paying less in the long run.

there are a couple nice things about HSA's: you can carrry over funds from year to year (FSAs are use it or lose it). your contribution is pre-tax, and it can live forever if you want it to, even if you leave your current employer. I know you are young and healthy, but if you consistently put money towards it (like a 401k), you will have a nice little health care nest egg set up for when you really need it.

The illness ( covid ) is real..

The problem here is with the exact nature of the infection part of this infecting agent:   it not 'one size fits all'

    Some die

    Most don't

In between .. there is vast spectrum of just about anything imaginable as to what someone experiences... I've heard of brain damage even.  Jesus. Heart scarring this ...lung scarring that... black toes for f sake.  While for some... just a head-cold. For others it has mimicked Norwalk shitting... Of course...fever and fatigue may or may not accompany, or be the only thing -

It's not like BB plague or Ebola... or Norwalk ... These affect like 99% of population pretty much in the same identical way.  Everyone is visible stricken the same that gets them.

The uncertainty is lending to a lot of doubt mechanics frankly because it's not every identifiable ...and it is happening in an overall culture that is just as plagued with systemic/social distrust that is as virulent as the Pandemic itself.

i gotta tell ya tip-two things about this post

    1. this might be your first post that i was able to read the whole thing

    2. i was able to understand the post, and your point.

    well done sir!

And i have heard stories alike and actually saw a video of a moose charging at the sleds, Hey its there woods, We're intruding....lol

i was in a group of sleds in a similar situation this past winter. Came up a trail and there were 3 moose standing in the trail. one bolted to the left (that one was a baby), the biggest one bolted to the right, and one stood her ground (the mom) on the right side of the trail. she didn’t like the fact that there were now several snowmobiles and humans between her and her baby. The guys in the front of the group had stopped and were yelling at all of us in the back to back up, as they started turning around. before they all got turned around, she moved across the trail over closer to where the baby was. I was the last person in the pack of 9 sleds and had  no idea what was going on up front, other than i could see. it was  pretty scary for those guys up front, but she never charged.

Yeah, Cans give you no performance gain, But i guess if it sounds loud you must be going faster..........lol, The moose don't care about the noise, They won't even get off the trail when your coming..............:(

cans are stupid. the mountain guys like them because the shave 1-2 lbs of weight off thier sled. yeah, like that matters.

and none of them have mastered the art of a nice smooth throttle. I'll never understand that. it's kind of like the Harley guys who roll up to a stop light doing throttle blips. stupid and obnoxious.

You’ll see a lot of reports of “positive” cases in vaccinated people. Mostly from people who are in routine testing protocols. I’ll say it again. It’s from viral particles in the nose that’s not infectious to them or anyone else.
Bill Maher tested positive today as part of routine testing for his show taping. He’s fully vaccinated and he said he feels fine. For all I know I could test positive if I tested everyday. Doesnt mean I’m sick or contagious.
This whole PCR testing thing really needs to end.

    violently agree. stop the madness!

There will be some places that do it. I was actually just talking with a co-worker a few minutes ago and she said she was somewhere a few weeks ago and she had to present it.

Carrying the card though is stupid...thing is huge. I think you can obtain a copy of it online or just take a picture of it and keep on your phone. I heard from a co-worker too it might be tied into your license...or on your license record.

I mean I don't think it's a big deal if you have to show proof at certain places...no different than having to show your license when purchasing alcohol if asked to do so.

no way it is on your license. that is 100% made up BS.

Have you been to a fast food place or grocery store recently? I'd say the older folks well outnumber the teenagers. Why are people in their 40s/50s/60s working there? I assume for the most part out of necessity and not so much because they enjoy stocking shelves and making  hamburgers. is the answer for them to simply just go get a job as a plumber or web site designer to earn a real livable wage?

i don't know the answer, other than to say that employers shouldn't be forced to increase wages because older people can't find other work that pays more. I agree that it sucks for them, and i also hope to never be one of them, but such is life.

I really don't know how you expect anyone to pay their bills, maintain their credit, on that paycheck. Doing those jobs, inside the city. I pay 2200 a month and it's an absolute bargain. The girls I rent to downstairs in southie pay 4k a month.

The problem here is kids being encouraged to go to college 8 years when they are idiots. If they have taken on the debt of loans the only option to go now is trades or pull off some king of life changing move and get lucky. The loan crisis is exactly that, a crisis.

The PUA will run out. Anyone taking advantage of the situation will be punished for their laziness. Don't forget what happens when the tax bill arrives. Sure, there is a 10k rebate, but if you've been collecting for a year, that's only what 75%? The IRS is coming.

shouldn't there be jobs that people aren't expected to live on? you know, minimum wage jobs for high school kids. a high school kid is just looking to buy some weed, not support an entire family.

part of the problem is that many of those high school kids don't want to work.
