Happy for my west nc brethren. The pattern looks good for more. Still 28* here with zr/ip north of wake forest
Me too. Prefer a bit less of zr for everyone but otherwise peeps to our west in NC, upstate SC, and even parts of North Ga doing very well.

Lookout,
HRRR nailed it here in upstate sc. We had 8 inches of snow early then freezing rain & sleet since about 8am now heavy sleet really gusty winds and more snow this afternoon. Even Weather Channel nailed it here they had 5-8 inches of snow by morning while NWS dropped totals to 1-3 last evening for entire event. They originally had 8+ here not sure why they changed when most of models were coming in colder last night. How much more snow are you thinking this afternoon when ULL comes through?
Man, that looks tough

Drifts up to a foot in places here now. Whiteout conditions. I'm stunned.

Can we get it pinned?
I think after we get through today's storm.

I am becoming increasingly nervous for a devastating ice storm from Greensboro to Durham to Roxboro. It looks like nearly an inch of freezing rain QPF falls .
Latest 3k NAM took ice accums down a little in the Triangle Bull

A winter storm warning just doesn’t feel right knowing you’re going to wash whatever falls away with rain before dark… especially when it’s just ice
Consider ourselves lucky this go around

You guys better sit down before you look at the 12z Euro. Cha Ching!
Yeah kinda re-enforces the CMC run from earlier. Talk about board wide wins

The HRRR has been trending towards expanding the ZR region NE along the NC/SC border over the past 5 runs or so. Doing a quick glance at the 17z initialization, it appears to be initializing correctly. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues.

That has my curiosity up as well

That is a lot of rain there. Going to cause a good amount of flooding if that verifies.
Wouldn't consider it much more than a cool pic at this point. If it is anywhere close to this come the 96hr mark than yes-Big Conversation

I think that crescent-moon metro shaped area in NC from about Hillsborough through Greensboro/High Point down to Charlotte/Rock Hill is in for some nasty. Get prepared folks

Well, in for a penny in for a pound now

Here you go Brick. Consider it more or less a blurry picture of bigfoot at this range though.

NWS calling for lots more power outages in NC. Went from 'elevated' to 'widespread'

Looks like somebody might need to start a thread soon for next weekend. Who brings the most luck east of the mountains?
-
Kind of glad Cary was out of this earlier as some parties are crashing tonight to the west. This has just become a mountain snowstorm more or less when it comes to wall to wall snow.

18Z GFS shows multiple chances for wintry weather over many areas of NC and SC the next 10 to 14 days.
Can you post some pics?

Carywx,
Do you have the same map @ 240?
Thank you,
TW
I don't have the next interval but I think right now it just slides offshore east. Pretty far in time though so we'll need to see what happens. Might not even be there on the next run

I have family in Charlotte getting fuel for their generator just in case. Doesn't hurt to be prepared.
I would be much more concerned in Charlotte or the Triad myself as well.

The low cutting east across South Carolina then due north to DC is a CRAZY storm track and a huge middle finger to many of us especially the triangle
I kind of glad here for this storm really. I would not want a drift east that just brings all that heavy accretion of ice to the Triangle.

What we want to see actually on some of the model runs at this range.
