I lived for a few years in the Arnold Ave area of West Babylon before moving back to the north shore.

These are cheapo knock offs that I wouldn't trust in the mountains, but they might be good in local parks and icy driveways. https://www.amazon.com/Traction-Crampons-Stainless-Climbing-Mountaineering/dp/B07H4H7MKR/ Beats a broken wrist and is much cheaper than an ER copay.

Light freezing drizzle here. Temp rose as high as 31.8 around 4am, but back down to 30.0 as of 5am. I'd be asleep but the town plows are insistent on scraping off a layer of asphalt. 5.0" snow total Seasonal: 14.1" through this morning

N Smithtown 10:30 29.3⁰ Snow. 3.5" total There seemed to be some pingers when I was taking the measurement but they appear to have been graupel based on the sleeve test. Back to S+ now, viz 1/4 (10:40pm)

This is why we can't have nice things.

It is, but the place for anger and disrespect is in OT.

Both parties have had an unforgivable role in getting to this. Apparently, fessing up and making things right is not in any contemporary election playbook.

Nice work, Thanks! I appreciate the effort that goes into these. -
Left exit region or right exit region? Discuss.

Shorts weather at the North Pole.

Lots of poo-pooing the "SWFEs" in this forum, but I can come up with many that changed to rain when it no longer mattered (most of the precip was down), usually to light rain or drizzle. What happens after the precip ends is important... does it torch or does the accumulation freeze up.

Yeah, stop wasting taxpayer money on NOAA and let these guys take over.

What's in a name? I am 65 miles ENE of Plainfield and 20 miles due south of Bridgeport. Am I in no-mans land?

All of the models I looked at showed between 0.25" and 0.50" of qpf, mostly 0.4" and less. The coast is usually at risk, but for anyplace (including closer to the coast if they get lucky) that gets an inch or two of snow followed by sleet, there won't be much left after a complete changeover. Maybe some light rain or drizzle? Not saying it won't changeover, but this is not a prolific amount of LE.

That is a snow sounding. Those mid-level temps and thicknesses support snow. With a slightly warmer sounding there would be sleet.
