  1. You would have enjoyed last winter in SE MI then. Multiple good cement snowstorms. ANY snow is better than no snow, and wet snow is beautiful, but Im a powder person lol.
  2. What is funny is our best snow of the season so far (1.7") was a snow squall warning Nov 27th. Glad there is plenty of potential in the upcoming pattern.
  3. I notice people who live in the country tend to just drive over a few inches of snow but in the suburbs people will shovel. My last shovelable 3"+ snowfall was 5.3" on March 10th.
  4. 3/3 was a wound up storm with blinding snow and lots of thundersnow in SE MI. Not a lot of cold air.
  5. I don't either. It was 1.7" of snow. Before that would be mid-March.
  6. 2021-22 was a decent winter here. And even last winter had multiple shovelable snows. That's why I was wondering how he hadn't shoveled in 2 years lol. I last shoveled Nov 28th lol
  7. The signal for cold towards mid january is extremely strong.
  8. In 2010 February was a very active month here. We had a light dusting of snow last night, which was the first white on the ground since Nov 30th. 5 days in Nov had some snow on the ground vs none in Dec. Better times ahead tho!
  9. I'm not sure what will end up happening, but the gfs has been hellbent on having an absolute parade of systems
  10. Alternating periods of freezing drizzle, drizzle, and snow showers today. Picked up a dusting earlier that melted, then another this evening. Did pick up 0.2 inches of snow in total, roads getting icy now. Should see the first sun of '24 tomorrow. So ready for the active weather to begin!
  11. Regardless of what happens locally next Tuesday, I'm loving the active look going forward. What a change from December.
  12. I saw that lol. That's what happens when you reply to posts as you go rather then read everything THEN reply
  13. Lmao. Pointing out a fact or weather statistic makes you a denier. What have I got to deny? I live in an area with 4 distinct seasons & do my part at being friendly to the environment. Im all good. I forget that posting weather stats on a weather board offends some.
  14. Plenty of specific (some no doubt frustrating) to be ironed out but just looking at the general long-range, what a change from just a week ago.. Winter is returning!
  15. Exactly. there are plenty of people here who like warm weather over cold. And they are totally fine because they don't troll
  16. Detroit finished December 3rd warmest on record, behind only 2015 & 1881. The snowfall of 0.1" ties with 2014 for 2nd least snowy December, behind only 1889. Season to date snowfall is 2.5" The calendar year 2023 finished with a mean temperature of 52.6°, which is the 7th warmest year on record (behind 2012, 1998, 1931, 2016, 2021, 1921). Precip totaled 36.65" which is around a foot more than 2022, but snowfall only totaled 32.1" which is around a foot below 2022.
  17. Lmao. We have seen probably 2 hours of sun the last 2 weeks in Michigan. You're not in Saukville anymore, Toto
  18. True. I know you guys have said you tend to be even more feast-or-famine lately. Here where it's more "steady" snowfall, averages took a noticeable dip from the 1930s through the 50s. There were also several winters that finished under 20", something that has not happened in 55 years. Again not trying to go anywhere with this, just saying that as much as many long for winters of the 70s, they should despise winters of the 50s lol.
  19. I'd say that's mild lol. Just not all time warm. Again, I'm aware that winters have warmed more on the East Coast than the southern lakes. But I was merely pointing out that 1950s winters were anemic in most areas in the northeastern third of the country.
  20. Actually, the 1950s had very mild winters overall. The 6 years from 1948-49 to 1953-54 were milder than even the current normals for NYC, and the 1950s were also NYC least snowiest decade on record (as well as "barest" decade of snowcover). The difference in winters of the 1930s through 1950s VS winters of the 1960s to 1970s was quite extreme in many places.
