July 2025 Obs/Disco ... possible historic month for heat
BrianW replied to Typhoon Tip's topic in New England
Take em up... Look for dewpoints to gradually rise overnight. Therefore it gets uncomfortable again into the morning with dewpoint readings getting into the lower and middle 70s making for quite a muggy feel. Towards late morning most NWP guidance has a break in any shower activity with likely partly sunny conditions developing. This will allow things to heat up quite a bit. By early afternoon most heat indices will get into the middle and upper 90s,with a few locales in urban NE NJ and around NYC perhaps reaching 100. -

Or just take a shower before you got to bed. I read some study that showed it was extremely effective in getting ticks off you and finding them. Nightime when your sleeping is when they most likely are bitting you. -

I was traveling back and forth from New Haven to Pt Judith RI this week for work. East of GON has been socked in clouds/mist for the last few days while it's been like full sun HVN West. -

It's been full sun from HVN West along the shoreline all day and an amazing beach day here. -

Going to be many tropical like days in the woods... -
Yeah I agree. A really amazing country with probably some of the happiest and most laid back people of any European Country. The flight attendant on my Air Swiss flight was fluent in like 6 languages.

From Google AI. In the U.S., heat-related deaths have significantly increased in recent decades, with the number of deaths more than doubling from 1999 to 2023. In 2023 alone, over 2,300 deaths were attributed to heat, marking it as the deadliest year for heat-related fatalities. -

What a summer.. With strong Bermuda high in place, a S/SW flow will allow plenty of moisture to be sent our way. This combined with above normal high temperatures brings some potential for a heat wave, with heat index of 95-100 currently expected Wednesday and Thursday, and 100 to 105 for many spots on Thursday. LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... ***Key Points*** *While still some uncertainty, there is the potential for a heat wave to continue Wednesday through Friday for many areas with max heat index values between 95 and 100 (2-day Heat Advisory Criteria) for Wednesday and Friday and 100 to 105 possible for Thursday (1-day Heat Advisory criteria). *Relatively active pattern with chances for several days of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. -

77 for the overnight low here. -
I ripped out a rotted window sill once that had a yellow jacket nest in it. I was like 25ft up on a ladder and took a half dozen stings to my face. My face swelled up so much I could barely see for a day or 2.

This is the spot for the ACATT crew. Been 73-75 here most of the day at Roger Wheeler Beach/ Pt Judith in RI. -
SW CT and the New Haven area have mostly non profit water companies with dirt cheap water. I run my irrigation every day and it adds maybe $40 to my bill. I think a CCF which is like 750 gallons cost me like $2.
