  1. 1.4" in not much more than a half hour. It was fun
  2. This was a bit more than a shower, I got 1.4 in less than an hour. I had to pick my kid up from work at the peak and the driving was "interesting". Strangely I think it would have been worse if the ground was as dry as it was a month ago, it came down so fast that it all would have run off before being absorbed and it would have carried all sorts of loose dirt and debris.
  3. Got a few embedded heavier showers already and it looks like it's expanding over this side of the river. Another winner of a day
  4. Looks like today's rain should start popping any time now.
  5. I fall asleep by 9 or so unless I'm up doing stuff. A couple of days a week it's 2 or maybe 3 drinks, eat dinner, sit down, fall asleep within an hour. I'm old though We've gotten enough rain now that the soil is wet at least a foot down. Looks like drought won't be a thing this year unless something really dramatic happens. IME once everything is leafed out and the soil moisture is replaced it ends up being a good growing year.
  6. Between the watering yesterday and about .2 of steady, soaking rain last night the garden is looking perky and happy this morning. It's nice out there now after that heat the last few days.
  7. I saw some crazy high temps around town today, as high as 99 in mostly paved areas and even the sunny spots around my hill. The shady areas stayed in the high 80s. It was really uncomfortable
  8. So, rain tonight or early tomorrow looks good right? I don't feel like watering the garden.
  9. Actually it's not so bad (here in Misquamicut), dense fog, no wind and the sun just now burning off the top layers so it's bright and comfy at 70°. The place is empty I've never seen a beach resort town this quiet on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. edit: The fog is back, THICK.
  10. The only upside I see to this mornings and tomorrow's weather is we will be out of town until late Monday and I won't have to worry about watering the garden. Unfortunately we'll be at the beach watching the weather suck from an expensive hotel room.
  11. Hey, someone order me up a few more days like this. Thanx
  12. I'm having a hard time figuring out what my actual high temp was because a bunch of stations near me crashed today, one showed 107 and one never went above 78. It looks like low 90s for sure and 95 is likely based on dashboard thermo going as high as 98. I'm really quite surprised we burned through all that moisture so quickly.
  13. I'm surprised how quickly the temp jumped even with everything being so soggy. I saw 90 on the dashboard a few minutes ago.
  14. It's beautiful out here (in the shade) right now. It would be better if the dumbass neighbor would shut the mower off and stop arguing with wet gooey grass.
  15. FKNA yeah, haha. Start a Hall of Fame thread.
  16. My garden is doing very well. We'll see what happens as the buggy community gets it's shit together over the next week or two.
  17. There's steam coming off the sunny parts of my yard. Until the surfaces dry off I'm having a hard time with temps going too much past the mid 80s today. Tomorrow is a different story.
  18. Boy this is some pretty well soaked ground (and everything else) for the temps to get into the 90s tomorrow. Either way it's gonna be a muggy mess. Yay.
  19. Sorta. I was shoeless, shirtless and had all the windows (and roof) open. This was before I had cars with electric windows so I had to stop and run around the car closing stuff barefoot in heavy snow. It kinda sucked The 85° difference in an hour was pretty cool though
  20. I was in Denver in July or August 1987, it was 109° downtown. 70 or so miles west I had to stop and put the (removable) moonroof back in the car because it was 24° and snowing heavily. 15 miles after that it was back to 85° and beautiful. That was fun.
  21. Nice enough thunderstorm I guess, it was the heaviest rain I've had yet this year so there's that but it was only .8". I guess that puts me around half of where I should be for the year so far.
  22. I had .1" early this morning, not a drop since about 5am.
  23. It has been raining often enough but not much falls each time, it has been foggy frequently but it burns off early, the temps have been slightly above normal but the RH has been well below and with damn near no snow the soil has been drying for months. I'm also noticing an even higher amount of standing dead trees, both evergreens and hardwoods, and a distinct lack of understory growth mixed with lots of downed trees and fuels on the floor of the forests. It's gonna be an interesting fire season.
  24. You can keep that swamp ass stuff down there in NJ. Thanx.
  25. Most of the seeds are in now. It feels like I'm a few weeks late but just based on leaf out and general greenness it's right on schedule compared to my pictures from the last few years. I'd sure like to see some rain soon, it's really dry and a good garden is gonna take up a bunch of well water if it doesn't.
