  1. Storms poppin' to my east and NW. Dark and thundery all around but stuffy and uncomfortable here.
  2. @Juliancolton Are you getting wet yet? I was just south of downtown Danbury a while ago and a storm formed just to my north and east, it was super dark and thundery. It's always kind of fun looking in on a good storm from the side.
  3. Yeah what's there is in fine shape and actually pretty clean considering it's August.
  4. We got there around 2pm on Thursday and there was less than 50 feet from the dune to the water line and the seagulls were brutally aggressive. They stole the sandwich right out of my wifes hand and bit my daughter when she tried to stop them from emptying our cooler, she failed Around 3 I went for a walk and couldn't get past that first bar because the waves were pounding the rocks and that was as the tide was going back out. All in all until they dredge and expand the beach again I'd rather take the time and go out to Montauk and park at Kirk Beach even though it's a touch longer drive.
  5. We were just there a few days ago. The beach got hammered recently and there's very little left so it fills up quickly. You can't walk from the state beach toward Weekapaug because the water is right up to the rocks. That said have fun!
  6. 1.5" in the last 12 hours, 2.5 since yesterday morning, 4.5 since Wednesday morning.
  7. Looks like ~1.5" since this most recent rain started, 2.5 since yesterday morning.
  8. Looks like VT is getting thoroughly drenched. I bet the US Open DH at Killington is gonna be a mess today.
  9. I do but I think I'm almost at that stage of my life where I could appreciate an extended period of somewhat more boring weather.
  10. Pretty much the same here, just under severe but all of the effects were there. Looks like right about 1", maybe just a bit less.
  11. This one came in hard and fast with heavy downpours, lots of lightning and thunder and strong wind blowing the rain sideways in sheets. How is it that we keep getting pummeled by these storms this year and other areas get off with just one or two of the severe effects?
  12. I'd be over the top thrilled with a dry 3 weeks again. It's just so soggy out there now I can't even go out in my backyard without sinking in to the top of my shoes.
  13. This is insane, I've got about 200 foot visibility right now and all of my gutters are overflowing. Again Want some mud? It's running down my street like a river
  14. I think I'm going to go out and soap the cars up This rain is easily as heavy as anything from last week. Plenty of thunder to go with it too.
  15. My goodness it was raining hard over the Taconic crest a little while ago. Scary driving conditions...
  16. Holy downpours Batman! I just came down the Taconic from Poughkeepsie and going over the crest through Fahnestock it was coming down so hard it was 30mph and can't see past the end of the hood conditions. Woof...
  17. That's a pretty significant difference for less than 50 miles.
  18. ^^ Yeah after the January storm I bought a weather radio and started listening twice a day every day. As the Feb storm approached one of the forecasters from the NY office latched on to it early and had a great discussion that got me to go to the library and it was off to the races for me. At that point I felt obligated to start understanding some of the terminology so it would make sense when Frank Field was on screen on the 6 o'clock news.
  19. Sort of but not really. I spent the day in Austerlitz at the blueberry festival on Sunday and while the ground surface on high spots has a dryish feeling and dirt roads got sandy by the end of the day everything else is pretty soft. I think pretty much everywhere if you go 1" down you'll find good moisture because it just really hasn't had a chance to dry out yet this year.
  20. I don't know if my shoveling shoulders and back are young enough for an additional 50% over last years total. I probably won't complain (too much) if it happens though
  21. That's actually a pretty significant stat and pretty well explains why things are so lush this year. Soil moisture has been really good and even though the growing season got a slow start it has been going gangbusters ever since. Those few dry weeks were pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Today sure did turn out to be a nice day, looks like tomorrow ought to be pretty solid too. Unfortunately they're both work days so I probably won't get out to play and take advantage of them and the rest of the week looks marginal at best for outdoor activities.
  22. A couple of pretty good story popped up here, over as quick as they started but dumped a fair bit of water in a short time.
  23. Yep here too, less than .2". It's super foggy now though so hopefully the sun comes out and burns this off and it dries out.
