  1. I expected 3, got 5 but it changed to rain Im pretty sure there was 20 minutes of sleet but we were at dinner with friends so I only saw it out the window. There's a very wet, very dense 3-3 1/2 on the ground now and it's 31°.
  2. Damn its comin' down. I just drove down into Somers, the roads are pretty bad but there's nobody out and the old Durango is a beast in the snow.
  3. Considering that I'm at about where I figured I'd finish if it snows like this for another 90 minutes I'm going to end up over 5" rather than the 3 I'm at now. Fingers crossed I avoid the changeover and get to 5". Temp is creeping up though, I'm at 20 now still on a very light SE wind so yeah, we'll see.
  4. I'm passing 2" now. 18/16/SN+ It's been mostly small flakes but it's changing now.It sounds like it's getting grainy.
  5. 18/15. It just started snowing heavily again and the temp dropped a degree instantly.
  6. I had to run over to Ridgefield CT and we took my BRZ. It's unfortunately still running the 3 season tires so that was a "challenging" drive home. My wife wasn't enjoying it nearly as much as I was In all seriousness those first 2/3" really made a mess of the roads because it was so cold.
  7. 19/4 Radar shows I'm under a virga flizzard. Most stations in my area are now either S or SW but really light.
  8. Hey Rob or SNY is it snowing over there yet?
  9. The modelologists are having a meltdown. What do we have to do to get a night that's not foggy and misty? This is 3 in a row now that it's just miserable and thoroughly soaking everything. If I wanted to live in a rainforest I'd already be there.
  10. It's ugly out there today, cold with light mist. I was hoping for a nicer day than this.
  11. I can't remember the last time it stayed so muggy that the streets stayed wet all day and never even tried to dry.
  12. It was a little muddy. Funny how I still like playing in the mud like I did 50 years ago...
  13. Yup I'm a fan of riding in 65* weather in January so that's what I did.
  14. Yup, I grilled last night and probably will again tomorrow. It's kinda nice out there right now and looking like it's just gonna get better. What should today's outdoor activity be?
  15. It's definitely not what it's supposed to be like around here. Ah well, enjoy the low heating bills.
  16. I think I'm still at or under 10". It almost felt like winter for a few weeks there, a few days sure did, but it really doesn't feel any different than November or March.
  17. Well that was the shortest winter in a while. The forest is starting to wake up with new greenery and even some flowers popping. Here's an odd observation - When the early month cold snapped last month most of the ponds and reservoirs had little to no ice other than in shallow coves but over the last 2 weeks that ice has expanded and in a lot of cases is nearly complete on the more sheltered ponds. This ice growth happened while we stayed above freezing for 8 days! I'll be curious to see how the warmth and rain today and tomorrow affects it but the last one had no effect at all, the ice kept growing.
  18. Pretty cool vis sat loop this afternoon. That SW>NE boundary is fun to watch. It kinda feels like it wants to snow some more, the clouds have lowered and thickened and it just has that feel to it. Who wants to go for a mt bike ride tomorrow?
  19. It did. Nice to start the month/year/decade with flakes flying.
  20. I'm wondering if that blob of light snow moving through the Catskills is going to hold together long enough to make it here.
