Microclimates for the win. I'm sitting at 37 up towards the top of the hill here but down in town it's 28 and the difference was a couple of degrees wider a few minutes ago.

57 tomorrow afternoon? I'm so glad I work for myself and choose when I (don't) work so I can get out and go for a nice mt bike ride tomorrow. Who's coming?

4 feet for me! Woot That area ranges from 1600-1800 feet and can be super sketchy even in the rain. How was that windswept stretch west of Binghamton out to Corning?

I got lucky and while not quite dry slotted it's been mostly light to occasionally moderate for short periods for the last 4-5 hours, I'm at 1.05" since last night and it's up to 37

If only... Yup. .85" on a dreary, soggy, raw 36 degree day.

It's been so long since we've had a good 4 Corners low that runs east along that 30N line then finds that juicy warm water as it goes off the coast.

So all we need is to drop them 500 miles or so south and we're good to go. See what ya can do about that would ya please

I'm so bummed getting skunked again on a meteor shower because it's cloudy. I have the perfect dropaway to the southeast too so if it was clear I'd have a great viewpoint right from my front door.

Damn skunked again on a meteor shower. This one tonight is supposedly super rare and only lasts for 15 minutes but of course it's cloudy. Again

Well how'd that weather go for you today Julian? It looked like it was white for a while. When I left home this morning to head for Syracuse I was going to head up the Taconic but as I came around the north side of my hill I could see winter about 5 miles away. When I left home it was 39 in the driveway and the north side of the hill was 37 and I could see snow falling just a bit north of me so I changed my plans and went out to Rt 17 and up 82 to stay south and west of winter. It worked. The whole way out across the river I could see winter to my north and it finally stopped looking grim around Middletown where it went to partly sunny until I got to 81 but it stayed warm (38-40) the whole time.

What's the average high temp for around here now? It seems that my 40 this afternoon is pretty low. Another dreary day, I was hoping for some sun and a breeze to dry things out a little. Guess not...

1.3". There were some pingers as it pulled through before sunrise. I'm ok with no ice accumulation. 35* now and headin' up. Looks like an alright rest of the week coming up.

Great. Now it's 33 and getting windy and drizzling harder. Yuck.

Days like this are pretty depressing. When it's heavy mist/drizzle from ~6am on and it stays at 40* or under the whole time it's just miserable to be outside. At least it's not windy too.

REI = No. I'm an independent retailer supporter. I know too much about the inside workings of REI to ever want to support them. They're also doing a pretty good job of ruining the opportunity for those indy shops to make a living by working with what's an unsustainable margin for them.

Well the forest seems to have gone into hibernation quickly this year. Even though it was warm today it's pretty much frozen solid where I was late this afternoon. There's a bit of fast flowing open water but slow spots were iced over, puddles are blocks of ice and everything is firm and asleep. It's weird because there's usually still some signs of the summer that was but this cold snap shut that right down. No bugs is nice

I guess I missed on the sarcasm. The wind there is terrible. I don't remember it being such a problem before that chair though but my memory may be clouded by rose colored lenses I'm saying, in general, I really miss surface lifts. You could always stay out skiing when they were everywhere, chairs also used to be much lower and below the top of the tree line so they could keep running longer. Just look at the phenomenal run the red chair had at Magic, that sucker hardly ever closed.

Boy it's nice to see low min's rather than hig for a change.

When there's wind? Yeah... I love t-bars and pretty much all surface lifts except rope tows.
