  1. Yep. Lotsa rain overnight. Looks like ~1.4" over the last day and nearly 2" for the week.
  2. What dry? We got absolutely drenched up here on Tuesday afternoon. It poured for a while.
  3. That was some seriously heavy rain yesterday and the lightning was pretty good too.
  4. Yeah when that temp dropped last night it happened in a hurry. My wife and I went for a walk while we waited for the Chinese restaurant to make our dinner and in the 15 minutes we were wandering around downtown it dropped nearly 20*. It was a good thing the wind was at our backs as we finished or it would have been unpleasant. This morning is dense fog again, a couple hundred feet visibility at best.
  5. Doesn't get much more dreary than this. Super dense fog and everything is soggy from the rain overnight.
  6. Yeah the north side of the cars in the driveway still has a white coating on the ground so I'll go with .2 also. Just because...
  7. I've got snow going now, it's accumulating on the sleet that accumulated earlier. Tough to measure little patches though, just say it doesn't look very springlike out there right now. I saw sleet, ice pellets and snowflakes all the way down into northern NJ along the Palisades and then it was sleet snow through Bear Mt and all sleet by the time I got here in the eastern hinterlands around 6.
  8. Until I get to move to the FL Keys I don't want to build up a tolerance for it. Yeah I didn't ride much last year either because of the weather and a busted left hand that made it difficult to hold a handlebar. I paid for the inactivity with a heart attack in December due to laziness and lost fitness So see what ya can do about keeping the humidity down this year so I can get out and ride more comfortably would ya please
  9. It shows, just look at all of the deadfall (fuel) piled up in the woods everywhere around the region. When something gets going, if it's a windy day like today it's going to be a total shitstorm.
  10. My wife has a booth at the Nyack street fair on Sunday. She needs a nice weather day so that people come out and shop. OMG the wind was serious further upstate. I was in Glens Falls this morning and it wasn't too bad, it started getting good later in Saratoga and after 3 from Ballston Spa to Ancramdale it was the real deal. I actually had to struggle to close the car door at one point and it was like driving through a desert wind/sandstorm for a while with all the blowing dust on the highways. It sure did make for a nice extended dusty colored sunset coming down through the Taconics.
  11. No 100's Alright? High 80's is ok. Riding a bike kinda sux when it's really hot.
  12. It's always at the worst time. I have a monster pile of stuff that needs to be burned and now it's just going to sit until May. Every time this happens the pile grows because I never get to deal with it during the summer. I have lots of rotting brush around the perimeter of the yard
  13. It was a pretty warm March and things were popping a few weeks early. I got 17" in just a few hours after it was in the 50's during the day while I played golf. It started as rain, the wind shifted and it exploded. Insane snowfall rates for a few hours with crazy wind and trees snapping all over, power was out for 3 or 4 days, it was a mess. By late in the afternoon after the storm it was just a chilly spring day and at least half the snow was gone already. I remember pretty much every bit of it because it was so anomalous and after a near complete dud of a winter that almost destroyed my 1st year ski/snowboard shop that I had to move it out of the space we had rented on 3/30 it had an even more intense effect.
  14. They've added a chance of snow to my P&C for tomorrow night. Please make it go away
  15. Not really, it would have been missing a couple of key ingredients. Warm during the day leading up to a night time BOMB and trees already mostly leafed out. The damage wouldn't have been anywhere near as severe which is a big part of what made that storm so special.
  16. yeah it was nice (other than the rain) but now it's down to ~40*.
  17. As long as next Sunday is dry and comfortable in the LHV a little wetness is all good by me
  18. I can attest to the damage from the EF2 in the Carmel/Patterson area back in May 18. That day was super scary here and the sheer number of trees down is astounding. There are pretty much two straight lines that run about 10 miles where it's devastated. We were out in the car as it hit and there was stuff flying everywhere. I actually was afraid for our safety.
  19. What a nice day today turned out to be. It was generally in the high 60's here but I did see 70 on the dashboard on the south side of Danbury. A week of low humidity and slight breeze every day has really dried the surface out nicely. The ground is very soft but there's pretty much no mud which is a surprise considering how wet it was a week ago. Only the biggest parking lot snowbanks are still holding on other than a couple of large banks in driveways that are north facing and always in the shade but I think those will go bye bye in another day or three.
  20. Thin overcast but it's quite sunny now. Temp is up to 54*. Gonna go do some more yardwork.
  21. I cut a path through the downed trees so I can get to the back of my yard now. I realized when I got there that there's a thousand pound piece of broken tree from the abandoned house behind me hung up in the crown of one of ours. I'm hoping for no wind for the next few months It's one ugly a*s widowmaker that I hope doesn't come down on one of our dogs. I have sooo much yard work to do now that I'm healthy enough to get back at it but I have to work some too so the yard is going to be a huge mess for a while.
  22. I'm going to head north and west to get away from the ocean influence. I'm chasing springtime
  23. That's the penalty you pay for living on LI. Sorry Well, that and a few others
  24. Yeah but the cool has been pretty pleasant. Nice and clear, sunny and dry so it is great for being outside and doing stuff. A warm couple of days in a row would be a good thing though.
