  1. Anyone considering maibec prestained house siding, don't. We built our house in 2012 and used the pre-stained cedar siding. Over the years, I've replaced several boards due to checking and splitting. Some of the boards on the south facing side need to be recoated. I've contacted the company a few times over last couple years to get some of the stain. They are very proprietary and costly to obtain and it cannot be color matched locally as it is a 2-part tonal color. I let it go until I noticed this past wknd, I really need to restain a few boards. I contacted the company again and they want $1,000 for 10g of the stain. Nuts! They suggested one of their other colored stains which is a close match. Ridiculous. I'll juts replace the faded boards with some leftover ones, but eventually the whole house will need to be restained. Won't be going with their stain. In retrospect, I wish we used local cedar and some Cabot or Sikkens stain.
  2. Not even. Only 0.19" for May and some of those 0.01" recorded were from the sprinkler
  3. None that I could find. I'm thinking maybe the best thing to do is spread clover seed and forgo the lawn shit. It's just one disappointment after another. Summers have really changed it seems over the last 10yrs where it's just too dry to get any good seed germination and prolonged growth without irrigation. Got a quote for an irrigation well and sprinkler sys, $~$20K!!. Nope, not wasting more money.
  4. Jeez, terrible news. I got a kick out of his 'we're gonna get a blizzard(s)" posts this past winter, then someone replying "Ain't gonna happen james". RIP
  5. No prayers needed here. I'm sure it won't rain .
  6. Worst "lawn" cutting experience of my life. I had let it grow to about 2' to keep the weeds at bay, but it's so dry I was covered with dirt, dust and pollen. Recent seeding not doing well. Turning off sprinklers. Fawk it. .
  7. cool. the golf course/area is really nice.

  14. It just sucks though as he only had arthritis in his hind leg but went down hill rapidly over last two weeks. Of course he had other issues like chronic sinusitis that required two different drugs plus hyperthyroid which is pretty common in older cats. He was chasing chipmunks couple weeks ago and we think he further injured himself. He was dragging his leg around for the last week. Tried some other drugs for the pain but didn't seem to have any effect. The sister from the same litter we still have and is also 17 is still doing well. We also have one other around 10yo, but neither have the loving personality that Kevin had .
  15. Rough day. Had to put our 17yr old cat down. Great animal with fantastic personality. .
  16. Figures. I'm always late to the party .
  17. Looks like my cellphone that sat in the lake for 24hrs might be toast. After a couple different attempts (dessicant) to rid the moisture, there is still some in there. I am going to put in the vacuum jar overnight with desiccant and see if it helps. I've only tried using usb cable to computer to see if it's recognized and plugging into wall. Nada.
  18. they've been going for a few weeks now, but we're on a well, so......
  19. Did I mention we need rain badly. The new seedlings are stunted and in suspended animation. F'in damn lawn!!!
