  1. What little tolerance for heat I have been able to build up this summer seems to already be gone. I walk outside in this sunny weather in the 80s and hate it. It would help if there was wind at least, it's just so darn stale out there.
  2. I noticed some trees (don't know what type) getting some leaves turning yellow, but I'm new up here so I don't know if they're actually changing or just distressed for some reason. It seems very early for it to happen in August, even in CT and even given some of the cooler days. It's not like it's been chilly or anything, just cool.
  3. Low 70s here today, partly cloudy and still breezy. Still feels remarkably nice for this time of the year, but the last couple of days in the 60s has got me yearning for that crisp cool autumn air in the 50s. It makes me so happy. I'm so ready.
  4. It was in the mid 50s when I went to bed and I imagine it went down to 50 but I don't know as I slept in too late. lol I got to sleep under all of my covers, including my comforter! Truly amazing that can happen in summer up here. I love it!
  5. Another gorgeous cool, gusty and cloudy autumn day... in August. God, New England is awesome.
  6. Blasphemy! Cloudy, misty days in the 40s and low 50s only!
  7. I just cannot believe how often it is cool in the summer up here. Truly incredible. Went for a walk this evening before the sun completely set and it was already down in the 60s! Rain today happened but wasn't much of anything. Saturday I went to Hammonasset and was pleased that the waves were a little more decent than normal. I even found a Whelk seashell (dirty, but not broken!). I was amazed!
  8. I thought people would be more sensible about what is chilly when I moved up here, but I've been proven wrong. People here talk like 60s are chilly, just like people in the South. (I understand that highs in the 60s in August are very bizarrely cool, but to say that they're chilly? What is this, Florida?)
  9. A lot less nice than yesterday, but it's still better than sunny. It's been windy, with occasional bouts of light rain. Was glad to see no Tornado Watch for Middlesex county, hope it stays that way.
  10. Another gorgeous overcast, breezy day in the 60s. This is surreal to me.
  11. 60 degrees with light rain and a breeze. In August! Is this heaven? I can't believe this. This weather is too good to be real!
  12. Feeling really nice here in the aftermath of the storm. =) Too bad tomorrow looks hotttt.
  13. It's downright nasty outside today. A day worthy of the title of "Ughust" for sure.
  14. We'll see about that. lol You have to realize that the winters where I came from had become so pathetic that it was effecting my mental health. I had to move somewhere that has four seasons. My mental health was suffering too much. So, if winter here is too much for me, that's a better problem to have. I'll look forward to Spring for the first time in my life. Yup, lousy Oklahoma.
  15. August - the month where when I am officially done with summer and can only think of autumn. Having moved up here to NE, it is interesting though because many of the summer days have actually been pleasant, not anything like the constant suffocating heat I'm used to. Looking forward to my first New England autumn and winter!
  16. Anywhere else I have posted, I have always been like the most cynical poster ever in weather topics. You all have me beat with your hands tied behind your backs. Jesus Christ.
  17. Pleasant day! Light to moderate rain to noon or thereabouts and since then it was been in the upper 60s and lower 70s with overcast skies.
  18. Ewwwww!! That would have freaked me out so much!! I don't like bugs! Why are there so many?!! Maybe I'll rethink my next visit to the beach if something like this can happen!
  19. I did consider it. Stereotypical Seattle would be nice for me. However, I was concerned by the effects of climate change. I saw Seattle dealing with record heat waves and wildfires and decided that the stereotypical Seattle just isn't what Seattle is anymore, unfortunately. Oh... Yeah, I keep an eye on Duluth's weather and think it looks quite pleasant. I also considered upstate NY like Buffalo or Rochester areas, but ultimately I decided on Connecticut because my parents would hate all of those climates (they have SAD and don't like overcast days - the polar opposite of me) and I wanted to move somewhere where they would be fine with moving to. I want them to be nearby so I can take care of them later in their lives. Yes, well, November is typically when it had cooled down and become nice. However, I will never forget November of 2016. It didn't cool down properly at all. There were still green leaves on trees into November, and I remember the middle of the month walking outside and it was in the mid 80s and a wasp flew right by me. I was peeved beyond belief. That wasn't the beginning of my depression related to the weakening fall and winter, but it was certainly a tipping point. I used to think that mid-October was the cooling point down there, but that didn't always pan out. I remember many October days in the 90s, unfortunately. I think at some point, no month will be safe from the 90s down there. Right now no month is safe from the 80s, I can tell you that much. In 2001, I wrote in my diary being surprised that it got up to 70 in December one day (yes, I kept track of the weather in my diaries LOL). While I'm sure it had before, it was unprecedented to me. But then not even a decade later it was in the mid 80s on the day after Christmas (I think this was 2008, but I could be wrong). Ugh. Miserable. I'm so glad to not have to live down there anymore. Those bad autumns and winters were effecting my mental health. And I went through so many of them. Never again.
  20. Sunny and in the lower 80s. I don't like the sun being out, but I like the decreased humidity, I guess. Today reminds me of a late September/October day in Oklahoma. The gusts and low humidity. I can't wait for fall here (and hope it will be significantly cooler than this, unlike Oklahoma and it's miserable hot-into-November falls). It is funny how such conditions as today can send my brain false signals that it's a time of the year that it's not. I'm probably completely alone on that here, though, given it's based off of where I came from.
  21. It says it's only 76F but it feels worse than the last few days have where I am at for some reason. I'm just glad I haven't had to deal with the sun for days. That has made the weather so much more pleasant than it would have been.
  22. Wow, 72F, cool and overcast at 12PM. This weather is downright gorgeous! I'm in love!
  23. Well, I felt that way in the south, so I can imagine I'll carry over that same energy up here. In fact, I might turn out to be the very worst if the winter is weak. Sure I love winter in of itself, but the increasing weakness of winter where I come from was driving me more insane every year and if I come up here only to be hit with winter with nothing more than dustings of snow and days in the 70s I will completely lose it. I guess at least here, I have a place to vent about weak winters where other people will agree. No one where I come from seemed to understand how depressing it is to have pathetic, weakening winters. They just hate winter no matter what. If we get a dusting of snow (the only kind of snow that happens down there most winters anymore), they post memes on social media about "when will it ever stop snowing?!". Pathetic. Throughout all of the days of 60s for highs, they'll still be whining about "Oh, when will winter end? I'm so ready for Spring and for it to warm up". I...don't understand these people.
  24. Yeah, the climates of the big California cities are very undesirable to me. I would hate the lack of seasons. I need seasons.
  25. Yup, I come from the South where snow is rarely on the ground in the winter. I'm used to no snow on the ground in winter, but I still love it. Winter is by far my favorite season. The cold is more tolerable than heat for me. I'd rather put on cold weather wear than be hot and sweating in the smallest amount of clothes I will wear (I don't show much skin generally. I'm not conservative or anything, just don't like the way I look, so I rarely wear shorts or skirts/dresses shorter than below the knee). Overcast days in the 40s are actually perfect walking weather. That's the perfect balance for me between warmth and cold for me when walking. Plus... During the winter you don't have annoying gross insects all over the place. Peace. That's how I see winter. Peace and nice weather. Perfect for the outdoors. I consider myself a weirdo, though. Most people are made happy by sunshine and everything green. I am the opposite. I find the overcast skies and everything brown to be calming, whereas I find the sun to be irritating. Thus I can't understand everyone's hate for winter, and I don't need snow to appreciate it (but I do want snow! It's depressing to not get snow)
