Storm's picking up here. Hopefully it leaves some cooler air behind it.

Fair. It just feels like in CT, you have all that CT has to offer, plus NYC, MA and Boston not too far away. (of course, now that I live here, I'm not thinking of going to NYC or Boston for regular visits, but I did want to get one of the specialists I need in Boston, as I was previously her patient in OK and she moved, too) I'm sorry about your parents. As much as I hate to think of it, my parents are getting older and I hate being so far away from them now. I'm hoping I can get them here and be around to take care of them when they need care. I'm super close to my parents and this is the first time I've ever lived more than an hour away (and that was for a couple of years only).

A variety of reasons, really. (I've dreamed of living in Maine since I was real little, but in compromise with my family who I hope will come up here eventually, I settled with southern New England, but it's also about all of the options for medical care and the like I have down here. I'm not made to live in the middle of nowhere lol) I'm going to have to deal with it. I relocated to CT last summer, so I've experienced mid-June onward in the state. Once I'm acclimated it gets a little better. I was blown away by how much cooler summer was aside from some nasty days here and there. And that summer was above average??? WOW. I love where I live now. Just give me some time to acclimate to the warming weather. lol Lol, no. I don't drink. I'm just naturally like this. Sorry to say. Does getting drunk make you more susceptible to heat? Sure am glad I never got in the habit!

74 degrees and bright, bright sunshine. Very light breeze, if any. This is the kind of weather that normal people like, but it was a bit much for me, especially on my walk back from the store. Being sweaty with the hot sun beating down on me is not my idea of a good time.
-
Random loud rumble of thunder about shot me through my ceiling. Lol But we keep on missing the heavier rain here. It's like all of the bands want to go around Bristol.
-
I didn't very well. But I think my tolerance for the heat and sun has decreased as I've gotten older. So it wasn't always this bad for me. Plus, again - summer acclimation. I don't acclimate to the heat all of that much, but I do find 70s a lot better in July and August than I do right now. I wonder what it would be like to not need that acclimation and just be normal and like the 70s and the 80s.

Ugh. Already have my air on right now for a while.
-
I know. But this is April, not summer. I seriously feel as if I've gone back to where I was born and raised, because this is what "Spring" feels like down there. It sucks.
-
84 and the sun is trying to shine through the clouds. At least my apartment seems to have not taken in all of the heat and fans are sufficing to keep me cool.
-
I don't particularly like warm weather, and it's especially rough for me during the Spring when I'm not acclimated to it.
-
Already 75 and my face looks like this: I don't like going outside to warm weather in the morning. What is this, Florida? Maybe I should've moved to Maine, after all.
-
Looked out the window at 7am and then went back to sleep. I did not expect there to be anything on the ground. I was a little surprised. This image was at 7, but the snow remains even now on the grass, but not the pavement/roads of course.

Ah, yes, Southington is very close, I was down there some yesterday. Hard to believe there was such a sharp temperature difference between here and there!

Torch did not make it up to me. It never made it out of the lower 50s and is now 44. So... I was wrong, and I certainly can't complain.
-
Keep that torch below me, please. But I suspect it will make it up to me because I'd hate it and that's how weather works in my life. Totally not scientific, but it happens anyway.

My rating would probably be far too generous due to this being my first winter in New England, all of my past winters spent in the pathetic south. Positives: +Consistently in the 20s and 30s with the rare "warm" days being in the 40s, rarely 50s +Snow on the ground a substantial portion of the season. Negatives: -No real snowstorms, snow on ground was from successive smaller events. I'd give this a darn good rating, but as I said, I'm biased. I just can't even begin to describe how refreshing this winter has been for me. It may not have been a true New England winter (apparently), but it's night and day from what I dealt with before. Much, much more in line with how a winter should be, so much better for my mental health.

New England Winter 2024-25 Bantering, Whining, and Sobbing Thread
WinterSnow replied to klw's topic in New England
55 degrees outside????? Who said that could happen? Where's my winter? -
43 degrees. Feels like a heatwave. LOL. Nice to see some grass reappearing for my dog to go out on. That ice covered snow was rough.
-
What was that like? The south hit me with one of the worst examples just a year before moving - Winter Storm Warning, projected 6-8 inches (fantastic for a storm that far south). Then the storm comes and, I kid you not, a pocket of warm air opens up almost solely over my county and creates a donut hole where it's raining while everywhere around gets the winter storm. I don't think even a single snowflake fell at my house that day. I'll post a picture of the radar. I don't live there anymore, anyway, so...
-
WUnderground was showing like five inches yesterday. Now not even half an inch. What a bummer. Reminds me of living in the south. Had promising storms vanish the day of the storm.
-
Wonder what this could have been if it had stayed snow. When I took my dog out around 9 pm it was nice fluffy snow on the ground, but now it's a crunchy mess. My apartment's parking lot is just solid ice. Ugh.
-
I looked outside and thought "no way was this a 6 inch storm". I measured about 4 inches. Guess I must have cursed myself yesterday when I said "Will tonight's storm even produce more than 4 inches? Crossing my fingers.".
-
It's been snowing for at least half an hour here. It's picked up quite a bit!
-
If only we could see this again. It was just a few months before I moved up here... I just want to see a double digit snowstorm. Coming up from the south, I haven't seen one since early 2011. My luck that one would happen right before I moved up here, even during a winter that everyone up here considered to have no snow. Will tonight's storm even produce more than 4 inches? Crossing my fingers.
