the warm seasonal forecasts look to bust hard unless there's a mega torch in Feb or something and that appears unlikely

We lucked out though, it was fairly dry so the melt of the 50-60 inch snowpack was gradual...a few cutters would have been disastrous...

41 here with a few peeks of sun. Patchy snowcover in north facing areas but yesterday and today most of it melted

If the dryness continues I'd agree. Knowing our luck it will rain. LOL

Gradient patterns favor Central NE north anyway. Would not be surprised to see the drought continue however-other than about 6 weeks from mid Nov-Jan 1st it's been bone dry here.

Bottom line is you just need it cold enough like it is now. -10/-20 departures in January are almost always dry. The bad luck this year is a continuation of the drought that has plagued us since August.

melted what little snow we had left here

temps over performing today-43 here forecast was 37

This is why any permanent DST scheme likely won't last. Most weren't alive when it was tried in 1973-74 and if anything we are all softer these days so folks will freakout with their little snowflake walking in the dark to the bus or school
