Disastrous timing on that storm for ski country. While they will recover some, many trails won't be open for the lucrative xmas week. I'd sure cancel-who wants to ski with a zillion people going down the few trails that are open? And you're right-the "backyard effect" will not be in play either. (Ski areas do better when the coast has snow regardless of what they get as people see snow and think ski)

Central park is Feb or Jan 2022. They had .9 last Feb but that's been it-so almost 2 years

the places that intersected for 09-10 and 10-11 had back to back epic winters. (09-10 was not great here) But let's say Philly to just south of NYC they got nailed both years well.

Yep-that's all you really need. Alot of great winters are defined by 1 or 2 storms--77-78- there was only one storm all of February....

Agree on the travel thing-looks tranquil for many which is a help-I'm flying to FL 12/26 so don't need any hassles there

I think most would happily take a plowable event. Imagine if someone posted here in Feb 2022 that the next plowable storm would be 2 yrs away? (and then they would be correct as mid Feb 2022 was NYC and south's last event of note.)

Dec Nino's are usually not kind....Not sure where the calls for a decent end of December came from but climo/Nino was never in favor

yep there was talk of a big pattern change by 12/20 with a colder storm around 12/27-won't even be close in the end-maybe into January
