  1. I'm not leaving until tomorrow, but it's the construction that concerns me, both on I-65 in Elizabethtown, KY and I-75 in Cincinnati.
  2. Yep, right over downtown Nashville. By the time it moved in / developed, it was too late to drive outside of it. At least we weren't screwed alone. Charleston, SC got ****ed also. Plus, there's always 2024.
  3. Getting some typical diurnal CU overhead as we head into peak heating. Hopefully, they begin to mix out / diminish, or at least none of these clouds will block my view of the eclipse. :-P
  4. While sitting at the bar, I overhead the waitress say there are currently 1.4 million visitors in Nashville.
  5. I'm in elizabethtown, ky and traffic on I-65 has slowed to a crawl at best. Won't get to Nashville until night fall at this pace. The rural roads, judging from the overpasses, are the same.
  6. As far as Nashville, the main concern right now looks to be the potential for the typical popcorn t'storms to bubble up during peak heating. As long as they don't form over / near the city around the time of the eclipse, we should be good.
  7. Below is a pretty nice simulation of the sky conditions at the time of the eclipse... https://eclipsemega.movie/simulator?lat=39.0997265&lng=-94.57856670000001
  8. The word from Nashville is the only hotel that's still available is way out in Lebanon (Knights Inn), and they're charging $799/night.
  9. That's a decent setup also, as the area under the total eclipse would be in the subsidence region of that trough.
  10. Worst case, it then becomes a storm-chasing trip.
  11. I managed to reserve a room in downtown Nashville in case I do decide to make the trip, and they're all charging no less than $300/night. Even then, I pretty much lucked up as every other hotel in the downtown and midtown area is just about completely booked. In fact, I heard the schools in Sumner County (in Metro Nashville) will shut down for the day, in anticipation of all of the traffic.
  12. The only thing about Nashville is that their downtown area has a severe shortage of hotel rooms (especially with it being a tourist destination). There will be about 10+ more high-rise hotels that are coming on line within the next couple of years, but they're still in the construction / development phase.
  13. 8/21/17 is a Monday too. What the heck, might as well make it a long weekend.
  14. I guess it's time to plan a trip to Nashville...
  15. The only useful degrees in the future will be medical and business (finance-related) degrees. So basically, forget the art degrees everyone. Those degrees are useless. Just ask any 20-something Liberal Arts, Philosophy, English, Communications, etc. grduates working at McDonalds. And for those who are just starting college or plan on attending college, you should REALLY consider getting more than one degree. Not only will it be cheaper getting 2 at once than 2 seperately, but the competition between people with bachelor or even master degrees is getting too fierce for one to stand out with just one degree. Welcome to the new America!!!
