  1. ATL somehow managed yet another 90*F high today, lol. Skies were also mostly sunny again.
  2. Also, the "coldest" low this month to-date was 69*F back on 9/17. Other than that, ATL hasn't seen another low below 71*F this month.
  3. Currently 91*F at ATL, making this the 6th 90*F+ day in a row and the 14th 90*F+ day this month. Some isolated covection is starting to bubble up though, after mostly sunny skies for the balance of the day.
  4. The high yesterday at ATL was 90*F with mostly sunny skies. Temps do moderate after today, but will still be above average for the forseeable future. Latest model runs have backed off on the cold front passage this upcoming week and reestablish a strong SE ridge.
  5. What a difference the fall line makes.
  6. Made it to 91*F here and 92*F at ATL today with mostly sunny skies.
  7. Correction: It was actually 92*F here.
  8. It appears 91*F will be the high for today, both here and at ATL.
  9. The 12z GFS doesn't show 850mb temps getting below 16*C the entire run.
  10. Florence drifted closed enough yesterday that there was quite a bit of cloud cover, though still just enough breaks in the clouds to allow for a high of 87*F. As of today, it's back to the regularly scheduled program with highs near 90*F and mostly sunny skies.
  11. Relative to normal, temps haven't been that bad here. June was the warmest month of the Summer overall, with a depature of 2.5*F. July and August were around average. It was May and now September (to-date) that's been torchy, although they're not really Summer months. That said, it has been a long Summer with non-stop heat and humidity since May, although nothing extreme (in fact, besides yesterday and today, there was only one other 94*F+ day).
  12. I take it back. Now I'm hearing rumbles of thunder (though rain has passed).
  13. Yet again, ATL made it to 95*F today (at 1pm). The record high was 97*F, set in 1991. Now we're getting a heavy rain shower from a shortwave rotating around Florence. No thunder though.
  14. Florence has drifted closer today, so it's a little more breezy. But still, it's already 91*F with mostly sunny skies.
  15. Achieved an impressive high of 95*F yesterday at ATL, which was 1 degree off the record high for the day. Also, if I'm not mistaken, this was the warmest day of the year (yes, in mid-September, lol). Well above average temperatures (highs near 90*F) and humidity looks to continue through at least next week too.
  16. Currently getting a heavy rain shower after reaching a high of 88*F with mostly sunny skies. I think there were a few convective showers earlier this afternoon too, but no thunder both times.
  17. I take that back. Rain has passed, but now I'm getting rumbles of thunder.
  18. No thunder, but just got a heavy rain shower after reaching a high of 91F with mostly sunny skies.
  19. The sea breeze from the Atlantic made it this far inland, bringing with it some t'storms right now The heaviest core slid off just to the north about a mile, but did get a nice shelf cloud, numerous cracks of thunder and some decent 25-30 MPH gusts. Also got just enough rain to dampen everything up. Otherwise, today was partly to mostly sunny with a high of 89*F.
  20. Looks like a nice surprise for the Detroit area today with the strong t'storms. It seems as though it was unexpected. It doesn't make up for the joke of a severe weather season I'm sure, but it's definitely a little bit of something.
  21. After an extended lull in any t'storm activity locally since 8/19, did finally see a bit of action this evening. Picked up about 1/2"of rain. Otherwise, the high today was only 89*F with mostly sunny skies.
  22. Looks like some of the smoke from the wildfires out west is making it all of the way down here.
  23. I love how FFC basically copied the midday update from yesterday and used it for today... https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=FFC&issuedby=FFC&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1 000 FXUS62 KFFC 101605 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 1205 PM EDT Fri Aug 10 2018 .UPDATE... Forecast remains largely on track through morning. Hot and humid conditions are expected once again with heat indices nearing 100 in the southern part of the region this afternoon. There is currently no convective activity in the area, but more active weather is still anticipated this afternoon as a shortwave moves across the Tennessee valley. This shortwave will allow for the organization of showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and early evening, with some strong to severe storms possible within the system. The primary threat with any severe storms that occur appears to be gusty winds. Given the deep moisture in place over the area, strong storms could produce locally heavy rainfall and lead to some isolated flooding concerns.
