It's not often you see these a hatched 30% risk probability for the Detroit area..

I don't believe DFW has yet either (during Met Summer). Several nightly maximum lows have been broken though. That said, DFW may be on track for a top 10 hottest July on record. It would be pretty impressive to achieve that back-to-back.

The official high yesterday was 108*F.

As of 3pm, DFW is at 107*F, making it the new hottest day of the year.We're two degrees away from tying the hottest day of the year in 2022.

With a high of 106*F, today is the new hottest day of the year for DFW...

Some nice garden variety storms moving through It's a nice way to get brief relief from the 100s.

Achieved an intra-hour high of 101*F early in the afternoon before the outflow boundary (pseudo-front) moved through. DFW's currently at 10 days AOA 100*F for the season. I did speak too soon about the cloud cover, because an altostratus cloud deck quickly filled in not long after my post this morning and stuck around for much of the day.

At last, we have a morning with plenty of blue sky and good insolation. We'll be interesting to see what difference that makes with the highs. Either way, off to the races!

This airmasss is something else though with how efficiently it heats up. Yet again, deapite being socked in with convective debris all morning with light showers, highs still recovered into the low/mid 100s.

So many warnings in Eastern MI, and not a watch to be found...

The convective debis and the light showers through Midday wasn't enough to put a lid on temps, as it still ended up at 104*F at DFW

I've heard the Summer of 2009 mentioned as an analog, and it's an interesting one. The temps/departure ls were a bit more variable here in North Texas (similar to this year so far), but yeah, it was an all-out torch down that way.

But the most exciting thunderstorms occur more frequently at 100 than 40... 7/4/12 in Detroit remains one of my all-time favorite weather days ever for that resaon.

Today marks DFW's first 105°F+ high of the season, with an official high of 105°F.

Just temps below freezing is too cold, and it accompanies the misfortune of dirty snow/ice sticking around forever and constantly overcast skies for folks east of Lake Michigan too. Like I said, it's all about picking your poison.

Temps did finally recover back to a "cool" high of 90*F after the cloud debris cleared out around 2pm.

Forecast temps may just bust today. Getting a nice garden variety t'storm this morning on the tail end of what's left of that MCS that tracked through NE / KS / OK. It's been raining cats & dogs for at least a good 30 minutes. Even got a decent pop of wind ahead of it (nothing severe, but a stiff breeze). As is typical with these ridge riders, it ended up tracking further SW than models projected. Something possessed FWD to issue a heat advisory yesterday evening for Dallas and Tarrant Counties. That obviously ain't happening todah (not even certain 90s will happen) and has been cancelled.
