  1. Measured just over an inch the past 24 hours here at the house. Looking like a brief break tomorrow before more weekend storms arrive.
  2. Finally emptied the rain gage for the week. Ended up with 2.88. 44 this morning and warned up to 70 this afternoon. Nice day to clean up all the branches that fell, particularly with the cold front passage. Winds yesterday afternoon gusted to 60 MPH. Tomorrow should be another spectacular day in the Smokies!
  3. The front blew through a little after noon here in Maggie. Temperature did drop to 61, but now with mostly clear skies, the temperature is 71. Tomorrow and most of the weekend looks absolutely beautiful!
  4. I've seen pictures of 3 in hail in Bernardsville with damage reported from hail to cars and house siding. Also reports of hail damage in Mars Hill via Hunter.
  5. The storm the hit Waynesville and Clyde is impressive. Just rain in Maggie at this time.
  6. Big time storm with frequent lightning near Maggie Valley now. This will be the third thunderstorm of the day.
  7. That's a pretty good signal for below average temperatures through week two.
  8. I had a mixture of rain and snow overnight. Nothing now with a temperature of 36.
  9. We had a good rain shower a bit ago. Temperature down to 41.

In the wake of a robust cold front, colder air will move into the region this evening and early Thursday. The colder air coupled with fairly moist low-level flow will likely produce snow showers over the higher peaks and ridges and especially along the Tennessee border region. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible through Thursday with additional snowfall possible Friday morning. Motorists traveling in these areas should use extra caution.
  11. Clouds are rolling in now and the radar upstream looks interesting with a very strong Westerly flow aloft. Definitely some low topped convective elements heading our way into the evening hours.
  12. Down to 49 with gusty winds and partly Cloudy skies. That wind definitely is chilly and getting colder by the hour.
  13. Yeah, I have snow showers on my point and click for Wednesday afternoon into Thursday now. Looks like 3 morning with freezing temperatures here in the Valley.
  14. No flurries here in the Valley, but Cataloochee had the snow guns fired up this morning on the entire mountain! More snow making tonight should guarantee they make it to the 24th for their scheduled closing date this season!
  15. We've had a couple of days of great motorcycle riding weather across the Mountains. I'm noticing more folks out and about enjoying the break, but I am not seeing the typical early spring flowers making an appearance just yet. The models indicate we may see freezing temperatures early next week.
  16. Flurries to light snow has started at the top of Cataloochee.
