  1. They probably didn't realize how high those rates were until the utility hit their credit card. Also, they would have had more problems with pipes freezing and bursting with no power.
  2. I could have shown the 240 hr totals which are almost as bad.
  3. Here's a good reason not to have a variable rate utility plan: "Royce Pierce and his wife, Danielle, who live in Willow Park, west of Dallas, have been watching their electricity bill tick up by nearly $10,000 in the last few days for their three-bedroom home. While the family told NBC News they consider themselves lucky because they’ve had power, the financial burden has come with additional challenges. Since the family is on a variable rate plan with Griddy, the company automatically debits the bill as they use electricity. Danielle said she closed the debit card connected to their electricity bill because Griddy wiped it out. The family has been using separate accounts and credit cards to pay for necessities as the storm goes on." Also, another good reason not to have your bills paid automatically to your debit or credit card.
  4. The differences in these two iterations of the GFS is becoming embarrassing:
  5. Quite the difference in temps at 6z tonight between the Euro and the GFS for my hood. 4°F vs. 16°F, at least according to Pivotal's take:
  6. Let's see if the new GFS is ready for prime time - medium range and long range :
  7. That early Feb system where we got 5 inches of glop, we were just on the line. I'll bet Blue Hill received well over a foot on that one.
  8. That 68 must be for Blue Hill. We jacked here in the last 2 storms and have around 50, so yeah, Norwood doesn't have 59. They are only about 1 1/2 mi away as the crow flies.
  9. Day 9 on the 18z GFS would just about destroy most packs in SNE, with temps tickling 60°F and heavy rain.
  10. Did a measurement again this morning before snow blowing. Final amount was 7.5". There may have been some compaction, but I'll ignore that. The snow was not as fluffy as I thought, especially in the bottom third. But the asphalt driveway may have accounted for some melting in the lower portion even though it is still slightly below freezing now.
  11. Nice event for SNE. I'd take a couple more of these in the next month, lol.
  12. Looks like we are in that final band pushing through. Could be adding another 1/2-1" before we're done.
  13. Final measurement tonight even though it's still snowing pretty good:
  14. Been ripping here for the last half hour at least. Probably near 7" now. When I said there was more incoming, I didn't expect it to give the heaviest rate yet.
  15. Let up some here. The heavier bands are just to our N and to the S. But it looks like more incoming.
  16. Another inch since last measurement about 2 hours ago. Now up to 6".
  17. That is old radar. Those holes have filled in.
  18. We here are usually on the wrong side, but not with these last two storms. We jacked with 13" on the previous one.
  19. Just did first measurement and was surprised to find 5" here. We should easily get to the 6-8" that Box had for this area.
  20. I think Stop & Shop took over some of those stores, too.
  21. What about it? It's been gone for almost 10 years.
  22. Not February, but what a difference a day makes on the GFS L/R:
  23. You're certainly making the rounds near my hood today - Gillette, Costco, Star Market - lol.
