  1. They now have a watch effective at 5:00 PM today through Thursday evening.
  2. That train of heavier precipitation came through early this morning and left 2.0” of rain so far. I think an estimate of 4” total this week might be on the conservative side.
  3. I’m so bored lately that I’m finding myself pretty excited about the prospects of an unusually rainy week. I don’t mind 4”-5” of rain over several days. I just don’t want it all at once.
  4. The last measurable rain I had IMBY was 0.1” on May 5. (Before that was 1.7” on April 30.) I’m reluctant to waste my well on stupid grass, but I did run the sprinklers early yesterday.
  5. Pffft. Brad down in CLT. Half a world away in my book.
  6. Another gusty day. Does the NWS keep wind records because the last three months have to be the windiest period on record I’ve ever remembered? Maybe I’m just paying more attention than before.
  7. Yes, there are several providing some good information. And there are a few wasting electrons.
  8. I assume you don’t visit the Southeastern forum during one of our (increasingly rare) winter storm threads.
  9. The April 19th Severe Event thread is full of interlopers I’ve never seen before. It’s the weather equivalent to rubbernecking. I appreciate the insight from several of them. Others, not so much.
  10. Low of 34 this morning IMBY. Wind gusts have picked up this afternoon to 30 MPH. Continues the pattern.
  11. So another mild and wet winter? Yippee. Same song; fourth verse.
  12. This is one of those “non-events” for Raleigh that should be welcomed.
  13. The traffic cameras on I-95 near Charleston are putting on a lightning show. Looks awful.
  14. There are numerous mobile homes along that SC path. This is no good at all.
  15. My extended family lives in Chattanooga. My brother and his wife are right in the middle of the worst of it at this second.
  16. There’s something sort of sickening when people are almost cheering for catastrophic weather in others’ backyards just for the rubbernecking novelty of it. WTF is wrong with people? This planet has had enough crap to deal with lately. Don’t be bummed out if your tornadocalypse doesn’t pan out like you had hoped.
  17. Storm roared through about 5:00 AM this morning. Wasn’t too severe. Received 0.4” of rain. The past monthly has been very breezy, but today might take the cake. Gusts are ridiculous. Isolated Duke Energy outages popping up all afternoon.
  18. The covid-19 thread in the Off Topic forum disappeared. Did that thread get too rowdy while I was away? With all this leisure time, I’ve been reading and watching more news and interviews. (Kill me.) Several things I’ve noticed especially among people in their 20s and 30s: ”Super” is being used excessively as an adverb. People are now “super excited” or something is now considered “super easy”. Please stop this madness. “New normal.” Ugh. New normal is yesterday’s “seeking closure”. Inability to annunciate some T sounds in words like important or mountains. I’m hearing a lot of “em-poor-uhn” or “mao-uhns”.
  19. Congratulations! I found some ground beef and chicken this morning. Limit of two per customer.
  20. It seems like the Southeastern forum has been the least active regional forum lately. Our weather must really be boring. Gee, I wish we had a current event to discuss. Nothing comes to mind.
  21. Canes chances have improved over the past week especially considering that some of the guys are waking up and a few other eastern teams are slumping. I bet some team will miss the WC2 slot on a tiebreaker. It’s going to be close.
