  1. I still like it better than the last couple of NAM runs.
  2. I’m throwing out all the model runs that I don’t like and hugging the ones that I do. /s
  3. On the bright side, I can drive 45 minutes to see 4” of snow and return home in time to grill.
  4. I’m ground zero for snow on the latest GFS and Euro and “QPF zero” on the latest NAM. What a wild ride. 0.0”
  5. I’m not sure I like being in the (outside the mountains) crosshairs for the latest GFS and Euro three days out. Usually means DC ends up with a whopper of a snowstorm.
  6. This isn’t related to the weather, but don’t bother buying a GE appliance. What an incredibly inept company especially since Haier purchased GE Appliance. Junk products and incompetent customer service.
  7. We’re due for a system where everyone in the SE wins, but I’m afraid it won’t be this one. This is one of this either/or/none systems that breaks hearts within a short distance.
  8. This 18z GFS run is more my style. I’ll cash in my chips now.
  9. It was the Nah’m. Gave me 0.6” QPF at 12z run and 0.0” QPF at QPF run. ZERO.
  10. Between the 12z and 18z NAM, all that moisture in TN at 03z on Friday went poof.
  11. I appreciate how GSP is willing to put out call map often a day or two ahead of the other nearby offices.
  12. If you live in the mountains (and west) perhaps.
  13. RAH still not biting on any frozen accumulation. That’s probably a safe take on things at this point.
  14. Triad still seems to be in the game for a little something not matter how this system evolves.
  15. A touch north. A tad south. Snowstorm of the century. Anemic QPF. Come on, people!
  16. I like seeing that, too, from this far out...because it usually ends up north. LOL.
  17. Well, at least RAH mentioned a chance of Friday morning mixing in their early morning discussion.
  18. 0.45” overnight. I wish these clouds would roll out of here.
  19. I noticed that I didn’t get a notification on some very light rain (0.01”) that came through this morning. The Tempest’s temperature appears to be more accurate than the lower-end Accurite thermometer I had. We just need some direct sunlight. I’m at 2.45 volts because of this perpetual cloud cover. I purchased the Tempest based upon your thread here. I appreciate your suggestion. Now we need some interesting weather to follow. LOL.
  20. The Tempest arrived this afternoon. It was easy to set up and running. My only fear is that—with the sun unlikely to be seen until Monday—the battery won’t last.
  21. If I remember correctly, some of the long range modeling showed the possibility of a white Christmas early on. I told my wife that we’d have snow on the ground by Christmas Day evening. She thought I was nuts. Then the models backed off and I became nervous. But it happened. I think we ended up with about 6”.
  22. Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated. I think our crappy winter is all my fault, folks. It started last winter with my buying a whole-house generator. Then I topped off the propane tank to start this season. Then I bought a new weather station. It’s been a Zzzzzzzzzzzzz snooze fest around here ever since. Boring as can be. If I can get rid of the generator, burn through the propane, and stop model watching, I’m pretty sure that we can land a decent snow for all of us. I’m sorry. I just need to be unprepared.
  23. Since moving from Chattanooga to Greensboro in 2005, I’ve never been shutout here. (Chattanooga was a different story.) I’ve always ended up with at least a little something and several winters were pretty nice for snow lovers here. Last winter was the closest I came to zeroing right up until that March mini-snow. I’m holding out for a couple of late January to mid-February 3” snows. We’re due.
