  1. I forgot to mention that I saw a 22 degree halo around the moon I believe Saturday night.
  2. I’ve resolved that I’m not going to fret. I’m convinced that March will come through for us with a featherlight dusting on the mulch. It’s going to be incredible. I’ll post photos.
  3. Nowhere for me right now. So many of those boards are dead. Social media screwed the internet up.
  4. I tend to be fiercely loyal, so I haven’t even started an account over there. Quality over quantity I suppose. Not that I’m personally involved in quality mind you.
  5. To the mid-Atlantic’s forum’s credit, they have chatter going even when the pattern sucks. We clam up and go silent. Maybe we’re all out doing yard work.
  6. I ordered a Tempest over the weekend. I plan to mount it on a 1.25” wooden dowel and attach it to my pergola (dowel painted to match pergola). A couple of 1.00” galvanized tube straps will hold the 1.25” dowel fairly well, but not tightly. (The 1.25” straps are too large.) I might wrap the dowel with some duct tape where it contacts the straps to take up the space. I want it to be snug. I’m looking forward to setting it up and testing it out. Heard only good things about the Tempest.
  7. But if I’m going to pay a hefty heating bill due to unexpected cold, I’d like to at least see a little snow on the ground at least once or twice. It’s a kick in the sack otherwise.
  8. All our players on the field were ejected and they’re ineligible for the first half of the next game.
  9. There are places around the Triangle that haven’t been considered traditionally Southern in decades. The dialects have become diluted and local elected bodies are comprised of fewer native Southerners than before. You go out to the western edge of the state and some would consider Carrboro (if they’d heard of it) to be another planet populated with communists. I guess the closest Tractor Supply to Durham and Chapel Hill is probably Hillsborough as that’s saying something.
  10. Just had a 25 mph gust. Temp is dropping quickly.
  11. The party is almost over and our guest of honor is caught in traffic.
  12. The new radar website from the NWS is terrible. Change my mind.
  13. The HRRR is still bullish for some flakes in a couple of hours. I’m still at 56 and have been since late afternoon. There’s still some QPF upstream.
  14. And no hint from RAH. I’m guessing it’ll be 2” or snow with nothing to show for it.
  15. Still looks to be a decent amount of QPF upstream if the cold arrives in time. Accumulation is out of the question, but I’d take a hour of flakes.
  16. The HRRR (or the hurr durr) still insists on snow in the Triad between midnight and 1:00. Temp needs to cooperate pretty quickly.
  17. Still 58 here. Moisture will be long gone by the time by the time the cold arrives.
  18. It’s out to lunch. I might see flakes flying around at midnight, but no way that verifies. I have no business looking at the GFS this late anyway.
  19. I might see some non-accumulating snow if I stay up to around midnight tonight. It’s razor thin though.
  20. The NC Piedmont is going to have to settle for an early March dusting, aren’t we?
  21. Currently 59 degrees and 0.75” of rain so far today.
  22. This has been showing up on the GFS for about the last eight runs and the HRRR has it, too, albeit at half the totals. I’d take some flakes and a dusting.
  23. This has been showing up for the last eight or so model runs. That lollipop into northern Guilford would be fine with me. I’m kidding myself though.
  24. When it comes to a (slightly) white Christmas in the Triad, I have a right to be delusional, folks.
  25. Whoops. Yes, I meant an actual casual wave with your driving hand while on more rural two-lane roads; not that other one finger wave you see in the cities. LOL!
