  1. Looks like winter finally arrived in Minnesota, as International Falls picked up the national low at -22.  High was 89 in De Soto City, FL.  The highest wind gusts reported on CTP's PNS were both in Centre County -- 60 from a NWS employee near Boalsburg and 59 on the Beaver Stadium WxSTEM.

My kid turned two last Saturday. He gets up about once a week in the middle of the night due to gas and he hasn't figured out how to fart in his sleep yet.

He's dealing with an ear infection (fucking tube fell out and ear immediately got jacked up) and is on augmentin, which makes him shit like a thoroughbred. Last night he woke up at 1:30, fouled his diaper, and then walked over to where the sink where the bowl he ate out of last evening was sitting, grabbed it and handed it to me basically demanding I make him chicken nuggets. Fourth meal came at 2:00 AM.

Little shit is getting melatonin the first night he's old enough for it.

Haha it truly never ends. But it’s also awesome and rewarding and all that good stuff…..at least that’s what they tell me ha. Snow being reported on mPING all the way down near Mechanicsburg.

Haha actually no. They still routinely wake up through the night. In fact, our daughter (she’ll be two in a couple months) is going through a pretty bad sleep regression right now where she is waking up multiple times through the night and wanting milk and wanting to be in our bed and just generally being fussy. It’s exhausting.

If there was any of that around here, I slept through it. And I'm a light sleeper so I'm saying no storm. Congrats for getting on the board!

Can confirm nothing of note down this way.

With February 29th approaching, here's some (somewhat) interesting facts:

A Leap Day is technically called "Intercalary Day".

A true solar year is 365.2422 solar days.  So it isn't exactly 1 day every 4 years different.  So to keep things in synch, every fourth year, meaning every year whose number is evenly divisible by 4, is a leap year and is granted an extra day—that is, except for every 100 years, when we skip the leap day, except for every 400 years, when we reverse the rule and add a leap day once again. So the years 1700, 1800 and 1900 were not leap years. The year 2000 was because even though it’s divisible evenly by 100, it’s also evenly divisible by 400. The year 2100 will not be a leap year, but the year 2400 will be, and so on.

You will truly be the life of the party when you break this one out.

Sadly, I have spent way too much time looking into this topic in the past. That will probably shock no one ha.

What is the criteria for an upgrade to a wind warning? CTP has roughly 25-low 30s sustained with gusts to upper 40s. I'd think if that played out it would be an advisory?

Wind Advisory: sustained winds 31 to 39 mph, for better than 1 hour - and/or wind gusts 46 to 57 mph for any duration. High Wind Warning: sustained winds 40 mph or greater, for better than 1 hour - and/or wind gusts 58 mph or greater, for any duration.

Legalized weed is coming this year, book it.

Wait, weed has already been “legal” for virtually everyone I know for the better part of 30 years haha. And now everyone just has those fake medical cards. But yes, long time coming. I just started back to back sentences with conjunctions. Somewhere my 7th grade grammar teacher is scowling. Low of 36 here. Beautiful morning for a train ride.

I'm looking forward to and going to enjoy the spring weather the next few days.

Having said that, it's sort of depressing to see that the board is already in spring mode. It's been over 2 hours since the last post in the MA LR thread...sobering.

Sobering indeed.  But I actually kind of enjoy the off times of year when posting is reduced and you don't have to scroll through a thousand posts every time you check in on things ha.  Outside of a couple major snow events, my posting is pretty much the same year-round.

  8. Back from having the week off, so I'll be a bit more active.  You know what that means, more annoying numbers and data for you all.  Low of 28 here.  A warm couple days ahead.  I don't think we challenge any records, although the max min record for Wednesday could be in play if the temp doesn't drop fast enough by midnight on Wednesday evening.  Was doing my monthly chicken scratch and I think we end February with a mean temp of 38.5, good for 8th place all-time.  Book it.

National high of 96 in Rio Grande Village, TX and low of 6 near Forest Center, MN.

  9. Welp we just arrived here in Westmoreland County and sure enough there were legit snow showers through the Laurels. Even laying on north facing areas. Temp dropped over ten degrees to 29. It never fails when you come out of the tunnel on the turnpike approaching Somerset ha.

The snow there is progged to slip south of us over here but it has been running a bit farther north and east than progged.  If quick enough maybe you see some flakes.

Thanks. Yeah I was wondering if we might encounter some flakes on the way out. Always an interesting drive west on the turnpike ha.

31 and ice coated tree limbs and non-road surfaces so a bit of a surprise ice storm here.    Radar shows snow in parts of York, Lanco, and Leb counties.

All surfaces just wet here with .13” in the gauge. Low of 35, currently 37.  We are on our way to Pittsburgh today with the kids. Gonna be a cold one.

Slow day, this. Everyone trying to justify their employment today? Or are we all on the various home and lawn websites upgrading our respective mowing components?

I’m actually on vacation this week, which means less time checking the board than while I’m at work ha. Also have a sick toddler on my hands who was up all night puking, so that’s great. He seems to be better now. One of those quick-hitter kid stomach bugs.

    Sam Lewis?

We took a drive past there last Friday afternoon - it was crazy how much more snow there was on Mt. Pisgah Road and Freysville Road heading towards Yoe and Dallastown. Those York County hills did very well last week.

No, a little park called Ironville on top of a small plateau near where Prospect and Fairview Roads meet. Sam Lewis is a good bit higher, no? Like 900’? My parents live down in Red Lion. York definitely has some sneaky areas of elevation.
