My wife just left BWI heading home. She texted before she left that it was raining so hard that it sounded like it was coming through the roof of our Tucson. Very efficient rain maker already.
Our flash flood guidance is so meager at this point, I just don't see how large swaths of Lancaster County don't have serious issues tonight. Hoping for the best but things could really go south quickly. Chiques Creek is completely swollen as it is.

Man that radar is starting to look juicy again. Atmosphere is just a wet sponge that needs wrung out.

The activity in western PA/WV/MD looks to have a good forward motion to it.

Yes, I'm hoping that's our saving grace today, that the cold front rams things right on through. The lack of steering winds yesterday was a big part of the problem. Still, we can't afford much out our way without big issues arising quickly. I'm in Harrisburg today so maybe I brought the storms with me up this way.

After scanning through my records, I've only had seven other occasions when I registered a single-day total greater than yesterday's 4.07", three of which occurred in the epic month of August 2018. My official total for June is 9.25", good for my wettest June ever and within a half inch of May's 9.7". I now sit at 27.52" for the year.
After perusing some sources this morning, I have a bad feeling for what's to come later today. Hope to be wrong.

Low of 70 and 4.07” of rain here. Honestly, I was expecting more but the late night stuff didn’t quite perform the way the earlier stuff did. Still, has to be one of my highest one-day totals on record, will check the spreadsheet later. Not loving the look for later today. We could really use a break over this way.

Quite the lightning show looking out to my southeast.
It’s unreal. Looks like the last of the heavy stuff just went through so hopefully we can get a reprieve and catch some shut eye.

Looks like we get to do this tomorrow as well. Any idea the focus area for tomorrow or is it just a game of weather roulette. I didn't exactly have a super high rain chance for today this morning, only 40%, and this happened

That’s my fear, that tomorrow could offer a repeat. Although it seems like tomorrow’s storms should move through at a faster pace, hopefully. Weather roulette indeed.

Well forget sleeping. The whole house is up again. This is some of the most intense and persistent lightning I’ve ever witnessed. Phone keeps buzzing from NWS sending out warnings on an emergency flash flooding event in progress. Can’t get over how the radar just keeps firing in our direction. Very intense night around these parts. I’ll probably have damn near 6” come morning. Aye.

MU's Elliott now forecasting 6-10" of rain in northern Lanco...
Saw that. Not great. Looks like a little over 3” for me thus far as I head to bed. More likely overnight. Official tally in the morning. Finally got the kids and dogs settled. Night, all.

Starting to get concerned with all this back-building right over my area. New flash flood warning issued.

Just came to say the same thing. Up to 1.33" now. Several very close strikes. At least my power is back, at least for now.
I’m at a similar amount, probably closing in on 1.5”. Tropical in nature. Manheim area again taking it on the chin today with big totals.

These storms are relentless. Just keep reforming.

Lightning struck right on top of our house, may have damn near hit it. Terrifying. We lost cable and internet but have power. Some other things acting funny. Neighbors confirmed they think it hit right in our back yard. Kids were scared but we are fine. Atmosphere was angry today.

A couple brief downpours here over the past couple of hours helped to temporarily knock back the heat.

Low of 71 here. Shaping up to be a glorious 4th of July weekend.

Back home from camping. Low of 69 with 1.3” of rain. Perfect summer day on tap today, great for pools or boats.

Wow
We just talked to some people who were trying to tent right by the creek and they have four inches of water inside their tent with all their clothes soaked. They fled to their car for a while and are now deciding to abandon ship. Grateful to be in a camper.

We are visiting some friends at their campsite here near Dutch Wonderland and it’s absolute mayhem. Mega drenching storms with round two on the way! Mill Creek is about to rage.

64 here as well. Minus exactly half an inch of rain.
Rain shield abruptly stopped just west-northwest of Mount Joy yesterday.
Yeah I noticed that, was thinking you may have just missed out on everything. I’d really like to mow before it gets brutal out this afternoon but everything is just too wet right now. Maybe I can sneak it in around noon before the clouds start to break and heat up. I’ll be watching the visible satellite closely this morning ha.

Wowsers! That's a heck of an area of rain over the central part of the county considering there was NO rain in the forecast today until a slight chance after 12pm.
Edit: CTP just added in a 30% chance for this morning. (once the cells had already formed)
Yeah things really exploded out this way. Flash flood warning up around Manheim. Storms just not moving. I missed out on the worst of it but still got a nice drenching to the tune of almost half an inch.

Low of 64 with .17" of rainfall and a nice cell moving through overhead as we speak.
-
Low of 72 with zero rain. MDT fell one degree shy of the daily high record yesterday, broke the max min record by one degree, and also now stands one degree AN for the month. Supposed to go to a Barnstormers game tonight, so a close eye on the radar, I will have. Cheers.

I don’t want to jinx it but things seem to be moving through swiftly and collapsing at a good rate. Looking like we may avoid a repeat of last night. About to exit the train in Mount Joy.
