Looks like the airport received 0.02” from that storm (I’m certain I got much more than that in the north hills), so no matter what happens the rest of the day the streak is officially over at 14 days without measurable precip.

Finally heard thunder!

Going to be a race to see if that batch makes it here in time to prevent us from officially reaching 2 weeks without measurable rain. Edit: it didn’t.

NWS still doesn’t fully believe the hype and still keeps us in the low 70s during that period (albeit with rain, but maybe not a washout). But if this relative consensus among the models holds, we know forecasting 70 with a chance of rain is just the NWS forecasting conservatively and that’ll get revised downward.

I agree that the timing of cold, rainy weather this month has left much to be desired. And I’m not even sure we’ll make 60 every day next weekend. GFS and Euro have 47 and 53 at 18z Friday, Euro and CMC have 58 and 55 at 18z Saturday, and CMC has 48 at 18z Sunday. The good news for you (and frankly me, as I’d be happier with 70 than either 50 or 90) is that the GFS, which predicted this pattern shift first, gets us back to 70 Sunday afternoon with much more fleeting unseasonable cold. (Also, PIT officially got to 87 so far today)

Finally reached that elusive 86 degree mark. Ironic, because I can’t wait until this heat is 86ed later this week.

Not dismissing, just saying I find it highly unlikely that all 1348 cases of paralysis and 14 deaths on that site were actually caused by the vaccine (but some probably were).

I think WSW criteria is 12 in the mountains. Lived in NWS Flagstaff, AZ area for a few years and I believe that was the case.

GFS is going to win the late week battle too, it appears.

Where this position becomes problematic is in the fact that it assumes that these people have done their homework and have a logical reason to believe there is a better route. In my experience with most of the people I know who will not get vaccinated, this is far from the case.

Underperformed again today (82). I won’t complain but maybe @Ahoff will.

It wasn’t so cut and dry out west at any point (we hit mid-month over 7 degrees below normal), but for awhile I thought we’d still end up very close to average for the month as a whole, if not just slightly above. I think a cooler end of the week seals the deal for us to fall short, as we need to average like 84/63 over the last 9 days to get to normal.

And the thing is you can’t toss it because most runs of the GFS are showing this and now the CMC has lows in the 30s next Saturday for some of PA as well.

Looks like Syracuse officially hit 93, which wasn’t even a daily record (record was 96, which has never been recorded in Pittsburgh in May). I did a little digging and found that their all time record high is 101 (including in 2012) but they hit 98 as recently as last summer.

Not lodging a complaint about any rain at this point but does it always have to be on a weekend?

And King CMC has jumped aboard the “next weekend will be cooler” train, though still warmer than the GFS.

Unfortunately there’s this, and I don’t disagree with that part.

I’d love to see Aaron be the permanent host. But I’m one of those oddballs that would be just as happy with Ken in that role. None of the others did much for me.

The obvious answer is no, that would be Alex Trebek. The greatest, and he’s Canadian.

I think Aaron took a few days to grow into the role, but he was a 75 degree late August day with a dewpoint of 48 when he settled in.

Still think we make 86-87, we’re still running a degree or two ahead of yesterday at nearly every hour.

That’s the thing here is it handled this week’s pattern well, but next week’s pattern is completely different (more moisture being the key difference), so we can’t just assume it will be king again.

I’m inclined to believe the CMC, it’s the hot hand (literally and figuratively) at the moment. That said, it does break down the ridge a little bit.

We’ll see what the CMC thinks momentarily.
