Can fans who went 86 years between championships be defined as spoiled brats? A philosophical question.

There are a ton of spoiled brat fairweather fans in Pittsburgh, probably more than in most cities. That’s the biggest issue with our fan base, IMO.

Ironic given the number of overcast, crappy days we have to put up with.

Oh right, I forgot about that very obvious reason one would travel to Pittsburgh.

Or cough, or turn to my wife and say “good thing my covid symptoms are starting to go away and I can actually go places again.”

Hence the reason I said 5 days a week. I think 2-3 would be just fine for most office jobs.

It’s incredible how heavy and localized that rain was. As for today, so far this afternoon it’s been the old “temps stalled at KPIT” story. I do think we get to 87 or 88 (AGC already has), but I thought 90 was a possibility when it was 84 at noon.

Way off topic, but Frontier Airlines keeps trying to advertise flights to me from Pittsburgh to the Twin Cities or Bismarck (via Denver) and even if I ignore the fact that Bismarck isn’t exactly a happening vacation spot, I’m wondering why in anyone’s right mind someone would fly PIT -> DEN -> either BIS or MSP.

If this persists on the models, I’m in. Never been to ND, could add to the 37 states I’ve been to. That said, I’ve seen snow twice on Memorial Day weekend in back to back years without even trying (one was at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the other was driving across I-70 in Colorado).

Mask wearing in the Pittsburgh area still seems to be well over half at most non-food establishments. I still do in most cases, but have no issue with people who don’t. With that being said, here’s something I do have an issue with. The wife and I went to a business last night where we had to wait in line. The line was not very long, but the (maskless, but as I said above, irrelevant now that masks aren’t required anymore) couple behind us insisted on standing no more than 18” behind me. My opinion is that there’s no logical reason from now on to ever stand that close to someone while waiting in line in a place that isn’t packed, pandemic or not, and it’s courteous to maintain that distance because there’s no reason not to (and there are plenty of other respiratory and other types of illnesses that are airborne). But maybe I’m missing something? Maybe someone on here can enlighten me and give me an actual logical reason anyone needs to ever stand that close to someone while waiting in line when there’s plenty of room to be spaced farther away? I’m honestly asking. Edit: I understand people’s desire for things to go “back to normal.” But is it honestly at all logical to feel like things aren’t “back to normal” if you’re not up someone’s ass every time you wait in line somewhere? There are some aspects of the “old normal” that should never come back, in my opinion. This is one of them. Another is five days a week, butt in seat, at office jobs that can be done just as productively at home, but that’s another topic for another day.

I believe a few people died that day in NY and CT.

Oh right, I almost forgot we live in Pittsburgh.

I’m thinking yesterday makes the case for having an official observation site closer to the city than what we have now (even if you keep KPIT as the one that goes in the record books). Then again, KAGC also recorded less than a tenth. But the fact remains, hundreds of thousands of people in or near this city saw a deluge on a day when 0.02” of rain officially fell.

I decided my beef with the winter average for PBZ wasn’t worth it, since 2/3 of the winter occurred in 2021 and should be compared to the new normals, so we had a below normal temperature winter.

Side note: I hate when a chance at a record cold max gets derailed by crap like that (not that this was probably the case at MDT yesterday), but I don’t mind when a chance at a record warm min gets derailed by a late day cold front.

Maybe the highs will come in at -0.3 and the lows at +0.2, but by some sort of rounding magic the average will come out to +0.1.

14 miles as the crow flies. I’m a similar distance in a different direction from Allegheny County Airport, which has recorded 0.05” today.

Sure enough, MDT has now recorded 6.5x as much rain as PIT today, despite the inch and a half I received.

I figured it would rain everywhere today except where Cowboy fans live. Proves that theory wrong.

8”, even in Wisconsin, is a WSW in most cases. Can confirm, I’ve also lived there. (But probably not on 5/27 when that kind of accumulation couldn’t occur on roadways under any condition.)
