  1. Where is the line between covid banter and far right drivel?
  2. We thought we had the clock run out on this stuff, but Bettis fumbled. Now it’s up to Big Ben to make the tackle.
  3. Thursday looks like almost a slam dunk too. Could even be the hottest day of the year if storms don’t keep temps down. Models are slowly cancelling the weekend cool down. We’ve entered that pattern where the hot days are hot and the “cool” days are slightly above average. Hope it doesn’t persist as late into fall as it did in 2015-2019.
  4. 6z GFS now has MDT at 100 actual air temp at 21z Thursday. LNS at 95/76/108 on the same panel.
  5. @mahantango#1 will see rain every day. Everyone else, well....
  6. Latest few 5-min obs were 90, but of course that’s probably 89. Was the car thermometer at 95 somewhere on route 28? Seems to be the hottest place my car goes.
  7. From 51-53 to division leaders (with a negative run differential) in just a week. Still, it could only take 85-77 or so to take the East.
  8. Nothing to discuss. A stagnant heat pattern, USA basketball won the gold, the Cowboys lost...
  9. This feels like it might be one of those weeks we talked about awhile back, where there are 5 days of heat, but then you get through the first day and there are still 5 days of heat, and so on.

    Winter 2021-22

As a lurker from Pittsburgh who enjoys Deep Creek (was there this past week and there were a couple sunny days that stayed in the 60s), the temperature difference is truly incredible. Agree that most of the snow is upslope, though as others have said, they do cash in much better than the cities do when bigger synoptic storms come through. Another note: to some extent, we Pittsburghers do resent Mid-Atlantic folk buying up property in that area - back in the ‘90s that was our vacation destination before DC folk and the like discovered it and drove the prices through the roof. But that’s water under the bridge at this point, along with the NWS reassigning Garrett County from PBZ to LWX.
  11. I tend to agree. I’d say 90 is attainable at least once this week but those 92’s we hit in late June might hold as the hottest days this summer.
  12. What, you don’t believe the HRRR’s depiction of us hitting 96 on Monday?
  13. Last fall was pretty solid. Relatively normal Sept with several mornings in the upper 30s to low 40s which is rare these days, fairly normal Oct with a first freeze around when it should be, above normal Nov with an early-by-recent-standards first measurable snow, and really only kept above normal by a very warm period in the middle of the month. I could live with that. The only downside to recent falls is that September has largely been another summer month, and last year ended that streak. On another note, 90s likely finally return early in the week, but it once again looks more muted and short-lived than it did at one point.
  14. Sounds like the usual recent +5 September departure, not that I believe their outlooks.
  15. Fingers crossed for next weekend. Some model agreement on better conditions than this heat.
  16. Still not convinced this team’s playoff chances are much more than 25-40% even if #7 is healthy all season.
  17. QB2 controversy in Pittsburgh incoming. We’ll see which one stops looking like garbage first. Wasn’t impressed with anything either Rudolph or Haskins did last night. I guess Haskins led two drives that resulted in points, but they were 33 and 14 yard drives.
  18. I suspect the GFS eventually caves to the EC and kills the heat later next week. But we shall see.
  19. LOL. Happened to be up late enough to check it. It looks like an anomaly because 1) the 6z looks night and day different in the longer term and 2) the GFS has been spitting out unprecedented heat in the middle of the country for weeks. While I’m pretty sure it’s been hot there, I don’t think it’s been to all time record levels. Next week will be hot. But it probably won’t be ridiculously hot and it might not be that prolonged.
  20. @Bubbler86 whatever you do, do NOT look at the 0z GFS in the morning. Up late on vacation and thought it’d be fun to see what it looked like before I went to bed for a change, but now I wish I hadn’t. @Voyager, feel free to look at said model run. It’s your fantasy.
  21. @Bubbler86 Looks like I’m hoping the CMC is onto something the other models aren’t for next week. But 59 here now and 71 later. Life is good.
  22. This is a family friendly site. 12z GFS also kills the heat as fast as it builds it.
  23. Tough to break that morning routine of waking up and doing a quick look at the models, even if my reaction at the moment is “Oh, it’s going to be hot next week? Who cares, this week looks fantastic.”
  24. Having 9 July days with highs in the 70s and 10 July nights with lows in the 50s was delightful, regardless of what happens in August.
