I want to say the new September normals are the ones that increased the most when they updated them earlier this year, but don’t quote me on that. Finishing “only” a degree or two above the new normals would be a hollow victory to me.

Unfortunately it seems we’re quite a ways from being into more than a token day in the 70s due to clouds/precip here and there. If I had to put money on it, the next day PIT sees with a high in the 70s and zero precip is more than 2 weeks away, and you know what that means for MDT.

90 doesn’t appear to be on the table for me today, barring an increase of 4 degrees from here on out. Tomorrow appears to be our best shot.

Looks like we could add a couple more 90 degree days this week. Last full week of met summer, it was hot last year at this time too and we got a beautiful September. -
Maybe they’ll get some 100s this week to brighten the mood. (Meaning EJ and his warminista crew)

I’m still feeling burned (literally) by September 2015-2019. But I guess all I have to do is look at last year, when August 20-27 went 85, 87, 90, 88, 89, 93, 86, 87 imby and then we still got a 2 week dry period in September where several days stayed in the 60s and a couple nights dropped into the 30s.

I’d post the corresponding DP map, but beggars can’t be choosers and optimism is better.
