  1. August 1995... Tomorrow is the easiest record high in August to break or tie, the earliest of 4 days in August with a record high of 94. I guess if we have a shot, I’m in.
  2. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northeastern Jefferson County in east central Ohio... Beaver County in western Pennsylvania... Northwestern Washington County in southwestern Pennsylvania... Southern Lawrence County in western Pennsylvania... Southwestern Butler County in west central Pennsylvania... Northwestern Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania... Hancock County in northern West Virginia... * Until 115 PM EDT. * At 1225 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Aliquippa, moving southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines, resulting in some power outages. * Locations impacted include... Pittsburgh, Mount Lebanon, Ross Township, McCandless Township, Cranberry, Moon Township, Weirton, Franklin Park, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Monaca, and Shaler Township. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. This storm is producing widespread wind damage across Beaver County. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows!
  3. Bow echo approaching Pittsburgh seems to mean business. If it holds up, I can see why the upgrade.
  4. But obligated to post this for the warministas: (with the usual disclaimers that it’s the cherry-picked, warm-biased hour 36 of the HRRR)
  5. By 11-5, do you mean 12-5, 11-6, or 11-5-1? I would think any shot at hitting any sort of temperature milestone tomorrow (100 for MDT, 95 for PIT, etc.) depends on avoiding thunderstorms, which I’m not convinced of. These two items are actually related in that both would require everything to go right.
  6. Only one of those scenarios makes us have to listen to the “Tomlin has never had a losing season” crowd spouting off.
  7. God, I hope not. Related, but just did a quick look at the Steelers schedule and a 5-12 season, maybe 6-11 seems very logical.
  8. W PA ones don’t exactly have a ton of forward motion either.
  9. GFS has been overdoing the magnitude of these heatwaves in many parts of the country this summer (with the exception of the west, where drought allowed it to come to fruition). Not saying I believe everything it’s saying, just saying could be days and days of above normal temps.
  10. GFS runs it back with the heat. Next weekend would be as ugly as this week with this one: Edit: Friday and Monday not shown here, but look very similar.
  11. That’s where Thursday in particular gets ugly. 93/73 or anything in that range isn’t fun.
  12. Looks like we’re in line to get some more good old thunderstorms to keep temperatures in check (and raise the dewpoint through the roof).
  13. I’m worried we’re transitioning into our recent normal September pattern of a never-ending summer. I hope that’s not the case.
  14. I’m sure if I asked folks who “knows stuff” in the New England subforum, your name wouldn’t come up on anyone’s list. So not sure you’ve earned the right to call anyone a joke.
  15. Might not be far right anything, might just be straight up trolling. Both are written off equally quickly.
  16. Looking through your posting history, I see a bunch of far right covid nonsense and a bunch of, let’s call them weather-adjacent posts that contain a similar lack of substance.
  17. Never been more sure of my stance than I am lately.
  18. So it’s not me being the judge of those opinions not being grounded in science, it’s objectively not grounded in science.
  19. “Vaccines have that chemical that’s in fireflies and the government will be able to track you with it”, “vaccines come with a microchip,” “vaccines cause autism,” the list goes on and on and on, are very obviously not grounded in science and reality and are beliefs held by thousands to millions of “people.”
  20. Free ideas and expressions are fine when they’re grounded in science and reality. What percentage of unvaccinated people do you think have any sort of a grasp on the science?
  21. Four centuries of our country’s leaders: 1787: “we the people, in order to form a more perfect Union...” 1863: “four score and seven years ago...” 1961: “ask not what your country can do for you...” 2020: “you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
  22. Wasn’t there a famous quote along the lines of “There are 15 US cases and soon it’ll be zero”?
