  1. I like how the Nam is pulling moisture up from way down in the Caribbean and the Gulf at 57 hr.....always a good sign for an out of control 18z run, unless of course it fumbles the handoff
  2. I think 30 inches is a good over/under number right now....2015/2016 was my lowest snow total since moving here in 2014, I had around 36 inches that year. If it weren't for getting some goods from the blizzard, that year would have been terrible. Hard to think this year could be worse.
  3. I love frozen mole hills all over my yard. Smashed knee caps on all of the kids 5 years and younger....14.2⁰ this morning with a stiff wind, just a bit chilly. First time the sun has been out in full since December 27th, a nice change at least. I think we are skunked out here, E of the river for this one...
  4. and I will see even less cirrus here...brutal year so far, looks like the rich get richer down in Delaware. They might get more snow in a week than they have had in the past 5 years.
  5. signs of some cold air on the Euro, sub zero for most of New England at the end of the run....
  6. My brother in law sent me this picture, he lives outside of Portland Oregon...my thought was the same. Hopefully not a preview of CC, lol.
  7. Did some hiking with the family today, had almost a Pacific NW vibe to it...impressive green for December 31st
  8. I haven't had an electric bill in the past 3 months, except for the connection fee which ended up being less than $2 last month thanks to Isias. My panels/roof/gutters are set to be paid off in 9ish years if I choose to pay the minimum monthly payment. I snagged a 10 year loan for all three for 0.99% through a green energy credit union. I had almost 500 kwh banked as of last month, since the bank resets March 1st, I started running space heaters to warm up the bedrooms before the kids go to bed. Between my new wood stove and the sporadic space heater usage, plus warm winter so far I have used less than 1/8 of a tank of oil....
  9. Oh I am sure we are going to go straight to cold and dry at some point...then we can nickle and dime ourselves straight through March, but snow is snow and will be happy no matter what I guess
  10. Gorgeous day on tap, not a cloud in the sky with temps pushing 50 on December 28th. Why not, if it isn't going to snow then let's enjoy being outside.... Had around 0.2" of snow and sleet coated with some freezing rain, melting nicely atm like half of the forum is right now....
  11. Finally above freezing here, sitting at 32.5⁰....sheets of ice earlier, now dripping away. Merry Christmas to all!!!
  12. Still 28.8⁰ here, sun is starting to break through now....no melting as of yet but it is coming
  13. 0.8" here, will be a distant memory in a few hours, but any snow on Christmas Eve is special. Especially for the kids...
  14. The air is quite dry, even down here....Dewpoint here is 3⁰ right now, wonder how much of tonight's event actually ends up making it to the ground?
  15. Where is the precip? Down to 26.9/21 right now, at least I could squeeze out some freezing rain accumulations before the temps rise. My front yard faces north and stayed frozen solid all day today, first time for the year....baby steps I guess
  16. Just took these on my south facing hill yesterday...a couple fake cold nights can't defeat days of warmth it seems
  17. Hopefully this doesn't end up as days of clouds and drizzle....otherwise, clear everything out and have some sun for the holiday
  18. 13.6⁰ for the low....I will second how hideous that Euro run was, hope it is wrong.
  19. That is an ugly look at day 10....Even some negatives showing up in Alaska with a massive -PNA. Thank God it is a snap shot of the GFS
  20. The family took a walk earlier and it was quite noticeable with the wind, sun didn't feel warm for the first time all season...Now we just need some snow
  21. If the block is for real around Christmas, I bet things either end up sheared to some mood flakes on/around Christmas or at least some nuisance wintry weather. If the block doesn't occur or is pushed further back, then probably ends up similar or even warmer than yesterday... Going to be the first true cold night tonight, already down to 31.6° with some wind...
  22. I agree, not that it is the well timed 2016 kind of block that pushed the blizzard south in the end. But I feel like this thing may end up congrats Mid Atlantic before all is said and done....
