  1. It ended up being a great garden season despite the excessive rainfall. Definitely a lot of work, but well worth it. I have 3 kids that walk through and eat all of the fresh greens, all season long.....
  2. What season is it? Just picked this....
  3. Sorry to hear about Cameron....He honestly was not my favorite, but they gave me the best deal for a sunpower install I could negotiate from 3 other installers....Their installation team was great, Cameron not so much....
  4. 46 for the low, nice to see the sun again this morning.....looks like next week is a washout
  5. Yes, we have central air....I do have room to add 5 panels to my solar system, so that can be upgraded down the road
  6. My panels were installed the end of July, I finally got my first $9 electric bill this past month, with a 236 kwh banked...it is a great feeling, lol. I am going to dig some more on brand names and companies that install them. My chimney flue is also degrading and needs to be replaced, so between that and the oil tank, I am already $5-6 grand into "fixing" the oil system that is already 14 years old.
  7. It is definitely expensive, would love to have it installed over any other system, just not in the budget at the moment. We are getting a Regency i2450, my wife liked the look of something more traditional rather than having something flush mounted...
  8. I got a quote from Dandelion months back at close to 30 grand, tax rebate helps but it is still a large chunk of change on top of the solar/roof we had installed this year. They were also running 6-8 months behind at that point, so who knows where they are right now....There is a company in Eastern CT that installs geothermal, I may reach out to them and get a quote. I have a company giving me a quote for a Bosch modulating heat pump system next month. I honestly have no clue how much a system like that runs for my size house.
  9. I am getting a wood burning insert installed tomorrow. Plan was to see how much it would knock off our oil consumption this winter. Then make a plan to replace our oil furnace with some sort of heat pump system next year. However, just 2 weeks ago our oil tank developed a very small leak, $2500 to replace. Oil company put a temporary fix on the oil tank, but can't guarantee how long it will work. Thoughts on a heat pump system? I do have a 10.08 kW solar system.
  10. A few miles between us, but sometime a planting zone apart it seems....there is plenty of color once you leave my hood. Pictures from today
  11. 37.0° this morning, up to 42 with some clouds around. Ready for some 70s, leaves still mostly green in my neighborhood....
  12. Took this yesterday, same day last year.... The frost this morning should help speed things up, but what a difference between years here...
  13. 32.2⁰, valley fog put an end to the temp drop....got the first frost though
  14. Down to 36.1⁰, at this rate we are heading into the 20s....
  15. Quite the downpours passing through right now, very fall like out there right now...53⁰
  16. I could only get down to 37⁰ that morning, he beat me...Lol
  17. Not a cloud in the sky, not a leaf blowing here....it has to be the valley combined with the sandy soil, almost desert like.
  18. 35.2⁰ this morning, looks like the growing season continues...
  19. Well behind here in the valley, same tree, same day last year versus this year....
  20. Tons of stuff moving around the tidal pools. Kids had a blast, waist deep in the water, felt like August with the warm sun. We tried Walnut beach for the first time, great town beach. 78⁰ currently here in Southbury
  21. What a day yesterday on the Sound. Water is still amazingly warm for mid October. No complaints if this continues into November....
  22. West of the river ftl today is seems....mild, but no sun or even blue skies to be seen. 67 atm
  23. More yellows around here, but where there is some red, it is quite intense....
  24. I have actually looked into this, even before the panels went on. The sticker price was around 30 grand before tax incentives. A bit pricier than I was looking for, but will reopen that route before we make a decision. We are adding a wood burning insert for this winter to see how much we can knock off the oil usage. Our a/c unit is 14 years old and ready to be replaced, the oil burner is the same age, but has a good 5 years left, but the tank/flue liner needs replaced sooner rather than later, so that may be the push to remove the system all together. Odds are this winter ends up being warmer than normal, little snow and I will have no clue how well the wood insert could do.... How is your solar search going?
