  1. What a day yesterday on the Sound. Water is still amazingly warm for mid October. No complaints if this continues into November....
  2. West of the river ftl today is seems....mild, but no sun or even blue skies to be seen. 67 atm
  3. More yellows around here, but where there is some red, it is quite intense....
  4. I have actually looked into this, even before the panels went on. The sticker price was around 30 grand before tax incentives. A bit pricier than I was looking for, but will reopen that route before we make a decision. We are adding a wood burning insert for this winter to see how much we can knock off the oil usage. Our a/c unit is 14 years old and ready to be replaced, the oil burner is the same age, but has a good 5 years left, but the tank/flue liner needs replaced sooner rather than later, so that may be the push to remove the system all together. Odds are this winter ends up being warmer than normal, little snow and I will have no clue how well the wood insert could do.... How is your solar search going?
  5. Yup, just filled up the tank at $2.50/gallon. I can't imagine what it will be come January, can't wait to swap the old oil tank for a heat pump system.
  6. I hope so...garden is still thriving, but I am also sick of the mosquitoes, sooo.... Temp down to 47.8⁰
  7. 52⁰ at 7:30, might be seeing our first frost by morning. Forecast is 44⁰, probably push 35⁰ by morning here in radiator springs, Southbury....
  8. Top photo taken today, bottom taken last year on this date. We seem to be a bit behind this year, at least around here. The "drought" last year probably had something to do with it....
  9. 42.6⁰ here as well....frost is coming this week, might even touch freezing here if all things go right
  10. Fog then some clouds slowed the temp drop, bottomed out around 44⁰. Should see our first frost here this week if clouds aren't an issue...
  11. I hope so...48.9⁰ now, I am not ready to lose my tomatoes and peppers, still going strong
  12. Sneaky cold night here incoming it seems...clear skies, calm wind and 51.8⁰ already.
  13. Too early to say -AO and -NAO ftw? Nice trough in the east otherwise...my photo memories reminded me that I had frosts 2 days in a row last year around this time. The lowest I have hit so far is 44.1 on the morning of the 11th
  14. 72 for the low here, ties my highest low temp of the entire year....needed to wait until September 23rd to get to that point, sheesh
  15. Might be the last time for the season, but beautiful today, pool temp 79⁰
  16. Pulled the solar cover off this morning, 78⁰ water temp...currently 85/72 air temp, what month is this?
  17. I have to LOL at this, this is what I tell my kids who whine that the pool is too cold at 75 degrees....I am only 38, but spent most of my life at the beach, swimming in Delaware waters of less than 70 for the most part...I prefer 80 plus at this point if I am lounging in a pool. Although I remember riding waves at 60ish degrees, no wetsuit, chattering, blue lips at the age of 10 I am lucky with the sun, solar cover works well here, but for most of CT not so much....
  18. I refuse to use the propane heater, costs so freaking much for a few hours of enjoyment....the solar cover however has bumped the temp to 77° as of this afternoon, should be good to use for a couple of days, might even be good until the end of the month if temps in the 70/80 range with lows in the 60s continue
  19. Threw the solar cover on 2 days ago, added 4 degrees so far....at this rate we maybe swimming into October (without the assistance of a heater)
  20. What a difference up here, 50 for the low, still chilly, 59 right now....
  21. 44.1⁰ this morning....feels like fall, at least for a day or 2
  22. We leased our minivan 3.5 years ago, never would have thought we were going to buy out the lease in the end. The agreed amount was $22,400 at the time, well we just bought the van. Our van, right now if we were to buy it used with the same amount of miles is roughly $35,000.
  23. sungolds? Ours went nuts this year, I have tomato plants that I thought were done for after 10 inches of rain the beginning of July, but they bounced back and have been non stop since then....
