  1. The models did really well. That is an exceptional match, though.
  2. I’m not suggesting they drive ahead, just point the cab over to the shoulder. Truck drivers are very experienced with the dangers of cross-winds.
  3. Come on. Get away from the power lines and try to get as parallel to the wind as possible.
  4. I do think that it is a bit of a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t situation for the administration. We all generally had the same forecast. If they had shut down school in Fairfax County and then we got less than an inch of rain and no wind during the day (which is what happened), parents would be pissed that they canceled school for a bit of rain.
  5. DC Beltway bullseye over the past six weeks.
  6. This is how we know that summer is over.
  7. 1.98” from the overnight cell and another 0.90” during the day yesterday.
  8. The radar in Jersey and NYC this evening is something.
  9. 66 and a breeze. Legit shivered a bit. Tomorrow is going to be awesome.
  10. Interesting seeing the lightning signatures pop up on several of the warned cells.
  11. Keeping an eye on that one. In a meeting right now with a coworker who is in Oakton. I’ll get ground truth!
  12. Constant CG hits. Top tier electrical storm. Not much wind here, but a little max is showing up on TDCA south of me at the beltway and 50.
  13. 12z HRRR and NAM Nest get surface based CAPE >2000 tomorrow afternoon.
  14. I mean, look at that stupid map and tell me it isn’t a perfect winter representation. Even NYC and BOS jackpot.
  15. The 1.9” at DCA is mostly sleet anyway
  16. If you look at the satellite maps, Laplace is the only area west of the Lake where they built into the swamp and connected the river and I10.
  17. Tweets aren’t reliable, but I’ve run across several of these just using Laplace as a search term.
